Qualifications

• A recognised automotive mechanic qualification or equivalent trade certification.
• Proven experience working as a mechanic, ideally with several years in a workshop environment.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle mechanical and electrical systems.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and workshop tools.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams and service specifications.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
• Physical fitness and ability to work in various positions for extended periods.
• Current driver's license and willingness to undertake test drives.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and workmanship.
• Preferred: Experience with hybrid or electric vehicles, or relevant continuing professional development

Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in vehicles using appropriate testing equipment and procedures
• Perform routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid top-ups and tyre rotations
• Repair and replace vehicle components including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems and electrical systems
• Conduct vehicle inspections and provide accurate quotations for repair work to customers
• Maintain detailed service records and documentation for all work completed
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations within the workshop environment
• Communicate effectively with customers regarding their vehicle condition and recommended repairs
• Utilise workshop management systems and diagnostic tools to complete work efficiently
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth workshop operations
