Job summary

Snowy River Caravans is seeking a Purchasing Officer in Somerton to support procurement for caravan production. You will source materials, raise orders, monitor stock, and coordinate with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery.

The role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organisational and negotiation skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a manufacturing environment. Includes benefits such as a scheduled RDO and free on-site parking.

Qualifications

• Experience in a purchasing or procurement support role.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills with high attention to detail.
• Good communication and negotiation skills.
• Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
• Certificate or diploma in Business, Procurement, or Supply Chain.
• Experience in a manufacturing or production environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Raise and process purchase orders in line with production and inventory requirements
• Source and order materials, parts, and services from approved suppliers
• Monitor stock levels and coordinate with warehouse and production teams to ensure timely replenishment
• Follow up on outstanding orders and ensure on-time delivery from suppliers
• Assist in resolving delivery delays, discrepancies, or quality issues with purchased items
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and supplier information in the procurement system
• Communicate regularly with suppliers to confirm pricing, availability, and lead times
• Support the Senior Purchasing Officer with supplier reviews, cost analysis, and reporting
• Work collaboratively with internal departments to understand material needs and timelines
• Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and procedures
• Assist in identifying opportunities for process improvements and cost efficiencies

The Role:

The Purchasing Officer is responsible for supporting the procurement function by sourcing and ordering materials, parts, and services required for caravan production at Snowy River Caravans. The role ensures timely purchasing to maintain production schedules, monitor inventory levels, and coordinates with suppliers to secure quality goods at the best value. Working closely with the Senior Purchasing Officer and other departments, the Purchasing Officer helps maintain smooth supply chain operations and supports efficient stock management across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

You will need to demonstrate:

• Previous experience in a purchasing or procurement support role
• Strong organisational and administrative skills with a high attention to detail
• Good communication and negotiation skills
• Experience with purchasing or ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, or similar)
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
• Strong work ethic and the ability to work both independently and within a team
• Certificate or diploma in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
• Experience in a manufacturing or production‑based environment is desired
• Knowledge of supply chain processes and inventory control
• Understanding of caravan or automotive parts and materials is an advantage
