Job summary

Highgate Healthcare is seeking a Purchasing & Inventory Coordinator in Adelaide to own purchasing and inventory strategies, ensuring products are available when needed. You will work across procurement, suppliers, inventory and internal stakeholders to manage purchasing activities and maintain optimal stock levels for a diverse product range.

You will build strong supplier relationships, anticipate requirements, identify issues early and take proactive action to support patient care and service

Qualifications

• Experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory or supply chain coordination.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Exposure to international shipping and logistics is advantageous.
• Experience with ERP/business management systems and Excel.

Highgate Healthcare is looking for an organised, commercially minded and proactive Purchasing & Inventory Coordinatorto join our Adelaide team.

The Opportunity

As our Purchasing & Inventory Coordinator, you will play an important role in ensuring our products are available when and where they are needed.

Working across procurement, suppliers, inventory and internal stakeholders, you will take ownership of purchasing activities and help us maintain effective inventory levels across a diverse and growing product range.

This is not simply an administrative purchasing role. We are looking for someone who can understand the bigger picture, anticipate requirements, identify issues early and take action.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

• Coordinating purchasing and procurement activities across our product range.
• Preparing and managing purchase orders from placement through to delivery.
• Maintaining effective relationships with Australian and international suppliers.
• Monitoring stock levels, demand and upcoming purchasing requirements.
• Supporting inventory planning and maintaining appropriate stock availability.
• Monitoring supplier lead times and proactively managing potential supply issues.
• Following up outstanding orders, backorders and delivery discrepancies.
• Maintaining accurate purchasing, product and inventory information within business systems.
• Working closely with sales, warehouse, operations and management teams to understand upcoming requirements.
• Reviewing inventory movement and identifying slow-moving, excess or potentially obsolete stock.
• Supporting stocktakes, inventory reconciliations and investigation of discrepancies.
• Identifying opportunities to improve purchasing processes, inventory controls and supplier performance.
• Assisting with pricing, freight and other purchasing-related information where required.
• Providing clear reporting and updates on purchasing, inventory and supply issues.
• Contributing to broader operational and continuous-improvement initiatives.

About You

You may already be working as a Purchasing Coordinator, Procurement Officer, Inventory Coordinator, Supply Chain Coordinator or in a similar role and be ready to take greater ownership.

Ideally, you will bring:

• Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory or supply chain coordination.
• Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
• Exposure to international shipping and logistics.
• Experience working with inventory or ERP/business management systems.
• Confidence dealing with suppliers and following issues through to resolution.
• Strong Excel and general systems capability.
• The ability to analyse information and make practical decisions.
• Good commercial awareness and an understanding of the relationship between purchasing, stock levels and customer demand.
• The ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• Clear and professional communication skills.
• A proactive approach - you identify what needs to happen and take responsibility for progressing it.
• Experience within healthcare, medical equipment, aged care, disability, wholesale, distribution or another product-based environmentwould be advantageous but is not essential.
