Job summary

A respected fire protection services provider in Perth is seeking an experienced Pump Technician to inspect, test, and maintain fire pump systems. This role focuses on quality workmanship, safety, and compliance to AS 1851 standards. The successful candidate will work independently and within a supportive team, handling critical fire system performance. Qualifications

  • Experience with fire pump systems or similar mechanical/hydraulic equipment.
  • Must have a current White Card.
  • Background in fire, mechanical, electrical or plumbing services.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, test, service and maintain fire pump systems in accordance with AS 1851.
  • Carry out fault finding, rectification and minor repairs on fire pump installations.
  • Ensure all works are completed safely, compliantly and to a high standard.

Job description

Banhams WA is a well-regarded, privately owned company delivering comprehensive, statewide fire protection services. Operating across Fire Pumps, Wet Fire, Electrical, Plumbing, Passive Fire and Maintenance, our work is aligned to Australian Standards, statutory requirements and industry best practice. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Pump Technician to join our Fire Services team.

Role Overview

As a Pump Technician, you will be responsible for the inspection, testing, servicing and maintenance of fire pump systems across a range of commercial and industrial sites throughout the Perth metropolitan area. This is a hands-on field role suited to someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, compliance, and reliability.

You will work both independently and as part of a supportive, highly skilled team, delivering critical fire system performance for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect, test, service and maintain fire pump systems in accordance with AS 1851
  • Carry out fault finding, rectification and minor repairs on fire pump installations
  • Work on associated systems including controllers, valves, tanks and diesel/electric pumps
  • Complete accurate reporting using tablet-based systems
  • Liaise professionally with clients, site contacts and internal teams
  • Ensure all works are completed safely, compliantly and to a high standard
  • Participate in infrequent weekend work and a rostered on-call service as required
About You

You are reliable, technically capable, and safety-focused. You have strong attention to detail, can prioritise your workload effectively, and take ownership of your work from start to finish.
