Job summary

Blacktown City Council is seeking a trade-qualified Gardener to join our Greenspace Services team. You will care for parks, gardens and public spaces, ensuring presentation, safety and consistency across formal gardens, CBD areas and community hubs.

Your day includes mowing, edging, pruning, irrigation checks, planting, mulch application and weed control. You’ll operate mowers and other equipment while maintaining high horticultural standards and guiding apprentices.

Qualifications

• Trade-qualified Gardener
• Experience maintaining parks/public spaces

Responsibilities

• Mow and edge lawns and maintain garden beds
• Trim and shape hedges; prune and maintain shrubbery
• Check irrigation systems and monitor plant health
• Plant trees and shrubs; apply mulch; control weeds
• Operate mowers, edgers and whipper snippers
• Identify hazards and keep sites clean and safe
• Support apprentices and uphold high horticultural standards
