Job summary

The Department of Government Services in Melbourne seeks an accomplished Chief Financial Officer to lead the department's financial management, budgeting and statutory reporting under the Financial Management Act 1994. You will oversee finance shared services, sign off statutory accounts and advise Ministers and the Secretary on financial strategy.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will drive financial sustainability, resource allocation and governance across multi-stakeholder

Qualifications

• Graduate or postgraduate qualification in accounting or a relevant discipline.
• Membership of CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, or an equivalent recognised professional accounting body.
• Experience leading finance in public and/or private sector with budgeting and statutory reporting.
• Sound judgement and ability to navigate ambiguity in dynamic environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the budget strategy and financial management of the department.
• Sign off statutory accounts and ensure compliance with financial standards.
• Advise Ministers, the Secretary and the Executive Board on financial matters.
• Manage finance shared services and set service levels with partners.
