Job summary

Public Sector Department seeks a Public Information Communications Officer to support strategic communications during incidents, emergencies and major events.

You will bridge communications coordination and media response, developing clear messaging, preparing materials, monitoring sentiment and advising internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Experience in communications, media, public relations or stakeholder engagement ideally in a Government setting.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to develop clear public information.

Your new role

As a Public Information Communications Officer, you will support the delivery of strategic and operational communications relating to incidents, emerging issues and major events. Acting as a bridge between communications coordination and media response functions, you will develop clear public messaging, prepare communication materials, monitor media and community sentiment, and provide advice to internal stakeholders.

You will assist with media responses, prepare content across multiple communication channels, coordinate approvals, support stakeholder engagement activities and contribute to incident response communications planning. The role requires strong judgement, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a rapidly changing environment.
