Job summary

Northern Sydney Local Health District seeks a Permanent Full‑Time Registered Nurse to join the North Sydney Public Health Unit – Communicable Disease Team. You will contribute to surveillance and control of infectious diseases within the community in the NSW health system.

Based at Hornsby Kuringgai Hospital, the role includes responding to notifiable disease notifications, outbreak investigations, and occasional on‑call shifts after suitable training.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse - Division 1 or Registered Midwife with AHPRA.
• Demonstrated experience & knowledge of current issues in communicable disease.
• Ability to work in a team, with organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of notifiable diseases and the role of the public health network in NSW.

Responsibilities

What You'll Be Doing

You will be part of a Communicable Disease team that has responsibility for developing strategic approaches to the surveillance and control of infectious disease within the community in the Northern Sydney Local Health District. Specific roles include receipt and response to notifications of notifiable disease under the Public Health Act, and the investigation of disease outbreaks. There is an expectation that some 'on call' shifts will be rostered each month, following completion of appropriate training.

• Registered Nurse - Division 1 or Registered Midwife with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

• Understanding of notifiable diseases and the role of the public health network in NSW.
