Job summary

Learning Links in Sydney is seeking a Psychology Team Leader to guide a multidisciplinary team of psychologists while remaining hands-on with client care.

You will lead clinical governance, professional development and team culture, supervise staff including provisional psychologists, aides and assessors, and travel across service centres and school programs to ensure high-quality outcomes for children and families.

We’re looking for a Psychology Team Leader who combines strong clinical practice with mentorship and presence to lead a multidisciplinary team of psychologists. This role is suited to someone who wants to stay hands‑on with clients while helping shape the clinical standard the whole team works to, and who takes real satisfaction in growing others’ confidence and skill.

Reporting to the Head of Allied Health and Service Operations, this full‑time role, based across our clinics in Sydney leads clinical practice across the Psychology team — direct client care, clinical governance, professional development and team culture — with Registered Psychologists, Provisional Psychologists, Aides and Assessors reporting in.

What Success Looks Like in This Role

Success in this role will be measured through the quality and consistency of clinical practice across the team, the strength of client outcomes, and a psychology team that is well‑led, well‑supported and growing in capability. In this role, you will:

Clinical Leadership & Best Practice

• Set and uphold a consistently high standard of clinical reporting and documentation, keeping records complete, on time and audit‑ready.
• Facilitate regular clinical support and peer review sessions that keep practice sharp and consistent.
• Ensure clinical services align with best‑practice standards and relevant national frameworks, including NDIS and Medicare.

Direct Clinical Service & Client Care

• Maintain your own active clinical caseload of psychological assessments and interventions alongside your leadership duties, meeting agreed clinical utilisation targets.
• Keep client plans, progress reviews and family feedback on track, following up promptly wherever a review is overdue or a family raises a concern.
• Monitor team utilisation, cancellations and early exits closely, acting early to keep service delivery reliable and families supported.
• Deliver evidence‑based, trauma‑informed, child‑centred psychological services in coordination with families, schools and other professionals.
• Build a psychology team with strong engagement and retention, supported by well‑run onboarding, induction and a clear ramp‑up path for new starters.
• Complete regular supervision, 1:1s, reflections and reviews with each direct report, on time.
• Provide timely, documented coaching and case supervision that visibly lifts each direct report’s clinical skills and confidence, and act early where capability gaps or workload risks emerge.

Collaboration & Organisational Leadership

• Represent psychology services in Learning Links’ leadership, organisational and cross‑functional forums, working alongside other disciplines to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Maintain clear role boundaries across clinicians, Customer Support, Scheduling and other teams, so recurring issues are picked up by the right owner and resolved quickly.
• Log and escalate recurring issues through the agreed improvement pathway, turning problems into lasting fixes.
• Actively engage in your own People Leader development, and apply what you learn within the team.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

• Keep compliance and funding data reporting on track across the team.
• Maintain the team’s adherence to NDIS, Medicare and organisational policy requirements.
• Respond promptly and professionally to feedback and complaints, turning them into learning and improvement for the team.
• Uphold a high standard of privacy, confidentiality and professional ethics, and model a culture of safety and wellbeing.

You are someone who leads by example — a credible, present clinician as much as a leader. You enjoy mentoring others, hold a high bar for clinical quality, and want to help build a psychology team others trust and want to be part of.

You will bring:

• Registration with AHPRA
• A strong ability to provide clinical support, mentorship and guidance within a psychology team
• Demonstrated professionalism, empathy, confidentiality and enthusiasm when engaging with staff, service users and external stakeholders
• Effective communication, problem‑solving, time management and prioritisation skills to balance clinical and team responsibilities
• The ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment
• Willingness to undertake regular travel across service centres and school‑based programs
