Job description

Full-time or part-time | Employment or contracting | Flexible arrangements
Psychologist – Child & Adolescent
The Kindred Practice | Bowral, NSW
Full-time or part-time | Employment or contracting | Flexible arrangements
Join our team at Kindred

The Kindred Practice is an established, neurodivergent-affirming psychology practice in Bowral, supporting children, adolescents and families across the Southern Highlands and beyond.

We believe good clinical work is strengthened by collaboration, thoughtful support and opportunities to keep learning. We've built Kindred around these principles, creating a practice where psychologists can share knowledge, work through complex cases together and continue developing their clinical skills and interests.

We're looking for a psychologist who shares these values and would enjoy being part of a warm, thoughtful and collaborative team.

Whether your interests lie in therapy, psychological assessment or a combination of both, we offer opportunities to shape your work around your strengths, interests and professional goals.

Why work at Kindred?

We want Kindred to be a place where psychologists feel supported to do good clinical work, develop professionally and enjoy being part of a team.

A collaborative, supportive team

Work alongside colleagues who value sharing ideas, discussing complex presentations and learning from one another. Regular case discussions, peer consultation and collaborative clinical decision-making are part of how we work.

Supervision, mentoring and opportunities to grow

Kindred is an established teaching practice with experienced clinicians and Board-approved supervisors. We offer regular supervision, mentoring, case consultation and report review, with opportunities to develop new skills and areas of clinical interest.

Varied and interesting clinical work

Our work includes psychological therapy, cognitive and educational assessment, autism and ADHD assessment, parent support and collaboration with schools. You'll have opportunities to develop a caseload that reflects your interests and experience.

Dedicated administrative support

Our client care team manages enquiries, referrals, bookings, billing and much of the day-to-day administration, allowing clinicians to focus on their clinical work.

Flexibility and sustainable caseloads

We offer full-time and part-time opportunities, with flexible working arrangements by agreement. We value a healthy balance between professional and personal commitments and aim to provide the time and support needed for thoughtful clinical care.

An established practice with strong community connections

Kindred has an established presence in the Southern Highlands, with strong connections to local families, schools, health professionals and community organisations. We value these relationships and the opportunities they create to support young people beyond the consulting room.

About the role

You’ll work with children, adolescents and their families, providing psychological assessment, therapy and support according to your experience and clinical interests.

Depending on your interests, your work may include:

  • Providing evidence-informed psychological therapy to children and adolescents.
  • Working collaboratively with parents and carers to understand and support their child's needs.
  • Conducting psychological, cognitive, educational and neurodevelopmental assessments.
  • Preparing clear, thoughtful psychological reports and communicating findings sensitively and practically.
  • Collaborating with schools and other professionals involved in a young person's care.
  • Participating in clinical discussions, peer consultation and shared professional learning.
  • Developing particular areas of interest, with opportunities to contribute to groups, professional development or supervision activities.

We recognise that psychologists bring different strengths and interests to their work, and we're happy to explore how the role might be shaped to suit the right person.

About you

You’ll be someone who enjoys working with young people and families, values good clinical work and brings curiosity, compassion and sound clinical judgement to your practice.

Experience working with primary-school-aged children, or a strong interest in developing your practice with this age group, is particularly desirable.

We’re looking for someone who brings:

  • Current general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
  • An interest in working with children, adolescents and their families, particularly primary-school-aged children.
  • A commitment to ethical, evidence-informed and culturally responsive psychological practice.
  • A neurodivergent-affirming approach that respects individual differences, strengths and support needs.
  • Strong communication, clinical reasoning and documentation skills appropriate to their level of experience.
  • A collaborative and reflective approach to clinical work, with a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.

Experience in child and adolescent therapy, psychological assessment or neurodevelopmental presentations would be an advantage, but we recognise that experience develops over time.

Above all, we value thoughtful clinicians who care about their work, are open to learning and enjoy contributing to a supportive team.

Employment and working arrangements

Location: Bowral, NSW 2576

Hours: Full-time or part-time, with flexible working arrangements by agreement.

Engagement: Both employment and independent contractor arrangements are available. We’re open to discussing which option best suits your circumstances and professional goals.

Remuneration: Negotiable, taking into account experience, qualifications, responsibilities and the agreed employment or contractor arrangement.

Applicants must hold current general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia and be eligible to practise in Australia. Appointment is subject to a valid NSW Working with Children Check and applicable professional and employment requirements.
