Job summary

Colac Otway Shire Council invites applications for a Property and Rates Officer to maintain the property and rates database, process ownership changes, coordinate supplementary valuations, and assist with rates notices.

You will deliver accurate revenue services, support debt recovery, ensure compliance with rating legislation, and provide professional customer service across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Experience in rates and property administration, preferably within Local Government.
• Knowledge of rating principles, revenue processes and relevant legislation.
• Proficiency with Civica Authority and VM Online.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and customer service abilities.
• High level of accuracy, organisation and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and administer Council's property and rates database.
• Process property transfers and ownership changes.
• Coordinate supplementary valuations and valuation objections.
• Assist with preparation and issuance of rates notices and charges.
• Support debt recovery processes and revenue reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with local government rating legislation and obligations.
• Provide professional advice and responsive customer service.
