Job summary

Department of Transport and Main Roads in Cairns seeks an Advisor (Property & Corridor) to provide specialist property advice to support land acquisition, land management and transport infrastructure planning for Far North District projects. You will coordinate property data, support acquisitions and disposals, and work with stakeholders to ensure compliant, timely outcomes.

The role requires a relevant degree, strong communication, and the ability to interpret legislation and policy.

Qualifications

• Must hold a relevant degree from a recognised tertiary institution or equivalent.
• Specialist property knowledge for transport-focused property matters.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, organise work tasks and set realistic priorities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage property, land transaction and project information to support timely acquisition, disposal and management of land for transport purposes.
• Provide specialist advice to project managers, management, regional officers and stakeholders on resumptions, early acquisitions, title corrections, land disposals and corridor matters.
• Interpret and apply relevant legislation, policy, procedures and processes to ensure property dealings and corridor protection activities meet legal and governance requirements.
• Research and prepare reports, briefs, correspondence and other documentation relating to transport corridors, land acquisition, road declaration, gazettal, opening, closure and access matters.
