Job summary

Department of Transport and Main Roads QLD – Cairns QLD is seeking an Advisor (Property & Corridor) to provide specialist property advice to support transport infrastructure planning and project delivery in the Far North District.

You will coordinate land transaction information, support acquisitions and disposals, interpret legislation, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliant, customer-focused outcomes.

Department of Transport and Main Roads QLD – Cairns QLD

As Advisor (Property & Corridor),

you will provide specialist advice on property matters to support decision making, transport infrastructure planning and the timely delivery of Far North District's major projects. You will coordinate property and land transaction information, support acquisition and disposal activities, interpret relevant legislation and departmental requirements, and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve practical, compliant and customer-focused outcomes.

Key responsibilities include

• Coordinate and manage property, land transaction and project information to support timely acquisition, disposal and management of land for transport purposes.
• Provide specialist advice to project managers, management, regional officers and stakeholders on resumptions, early acquisitions, title corrections, land disposals and corridor matters.
• Interpret and apply relevant legislation, policy, procedures and processes to ensure property dealings and corridor protection activities meet legal and governance requirements.
• Research and prepare reports, briefs, correspondence and other documentation relating to transport corridors, land acquisition, road declaration, gazettal, opening, closure and access matters.

Mandatory qualifications and conditions

• Current holder of a Class C driver licence.
• Must be eligible to work in Australia.
• Pre-employment check of serious discipline history for the recommended candidate(s) as a condition of employment.
• Specialist property knowledge, including legislative and policy requirements for transport-focused property matters, resumptions, land management, title corrections, disposals and Native Title assessments.
• Possession of a relevant degree from a recognised tertiary institution or equivalent qualification.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, organise work tasks and set realistic priorities to achieve work targets.
