Job summary

MFE is seeking an experienced Projects Superintendent to own execution across our mechanical operations in Queensland. The role blends field leadership with front-end planning, maintaining safety, quality, and client satisfaction on major projects.

You will split time between site leadership and project coordination, ensuring delivery meets scope, budget, schedule and client requirements while building lasting client relationships.

Qualifications

• Trade background in mechanical fitting, fabrication or piping required.
• Progression into construction supervision and project leadership.
• Superintendent-level experience or strong Senior Supervisor background.
• Strong grasp of project costs, budgets, labour planning and commercial performance.
• Experience in oil & gas, resources, mining or heavy industry sectors.
• Solid knowledge of HSE, QA, ITPs and project documentation.
• Ability to manage client relationships across field and senior stakeholders.
• Solutions-focused leadership and ownership mindset.

Responsibilities

• Take operational ownership of mechanical projects from mobilisation through to completion.
• Lead, mentor and develop Supervisors, Leads and field teams.
• Manage project budgets, costs, labour, schedules and resources.
• Deliver work in line with job packs, ITPs, specs and client technical requirements.
• Identify and proactively manage project, commercial and operational risks.
• Ensure hold points, inspections, QA documentation and project sign-offs.
• Maintain strong HSE and quality standards throughout delivery.
• Interface between MFE and clients once projects move into execution.
• Build trusted client relationships and identify opportunities for future work.
• Drive continuous improvement across delivery, systems and processes.
• Support tendering, quoting and front-end planning where your expertise adds value.

MFE is entering an exciting period of growth and we’re looking for an experienced Projects Superintendent to take ownership of project execution across our mechanical operations

This is an integral role within the business sitting at the intersection of our clients, projects and field teams. You’ll have genuine influence over how work is delivered, how our people perform and how we continue to strengthen and grow key client relationships.

About The Role

Once a project moves into execution, you’ll take overall operational ownership ensuring our teams are set up to deliver safely, efficiently and in accordance with the agreed scope, budget, schedule and client requirements.

Working closely with our Projects Engineers, Project Coordinators and site leadership teams, you’ll remain involved in front-end planning before taking the lead through execution.

Importantly, this isn’t an office-only leadership position. You’ll maintain a strong presence across our projects and spend approximately 60% of your time in the field, staying connected to our clients, supervisors and workforce.

• Taking operational ownership of mechanical projects from mobilisation through to completion
• Leading, mentoring and developing Supervisors, Leads and field teams
• Managing project budgets, costs, labour allocation, schedules and resources
• Delivering work in accordance with job packs, ITPs, specifications and client technical requirements
• Identifying and proactively managing project, commercial and operational risks
• Ensuring hold points, inspections, QA documentation and project sign-offs are completed
• Maintaining strong HSE and quality standards throughout project delivery
• Acting as a key interface between MFE and our clients once projects move into execution
• Building trusted, long-term client relationships and identifying opportunities for future work
• Driving continuous improvement across project delivery, systems and processes
• Supporting tendering, quoting and front-end project planning where your technical expertise adds value.

Here’s what you’ll need to thrive in this role:

You’ll bring strong mechanical technical knowledge combined with the ability to lead people, manage commercial outcomes and build credibility with clients.

• A trade background in mechanical fitting, fabrication or piping, with strong experience progressing into construction supervision and project leadership
• Demonstrated experience leading mechanical construction teams across project mobilisation, site execution and completion
• Superintendent-level experience, or significant Senior Supervisor experience with the capability to step up
• Strong understanding of project costs, budgets, labour planning and commercial performance
• Experience delivering mechanical projects within industries such as oil & gas, resources, mining or heavy industry
• Strong working knowledge of HSE, QA, ITPs and project documentation
• The confidence to manage client relationships and communicate across both field and senior stakeholder groups
• A practical, solutions-focused leadership style with the ability to make decisions and take ownership.
