Job summary

Harmony seeks an experienced Project Superintendent to lead day-to-day construction on the CSA Mine site near Cobar, NSW. You will oversee on-site teams, subcontractors and project engineers to ensure safety, schedule and budget compliance while delivering quality against plans and specifications.

Reporting to the Capital Projects Manager, you will drive progress, manage risks, enforce safety and coordinate with operations, suppliers and regulators to meet technical, environmental and commercial

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical) requirement.
• 10–15+ years of relevant engineering/project management experience.
• Strong leadership and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to motivate contractors and project engineers; maintain accountability.

Responsibilities

• Manage Project Engineers for all site projects.
• Coordinate sequencing of work to maintain project flow and productivity.
• Conduct daily inspections to monitor progress, workmanship, and safety.
• Work with project team to maintain short-term and long-term schedules.
• Coordinate project activities to meet milestone deadlines.
• Identify schedule risks and implement recovery plans when delays occur.
• Monitor Project Team productivity and resource allocation.
• Lead weekly coordination and look-ahead planning meetings.
• Enforce company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety violations.
• Maintain safety documentation and inspection records.
• Assist project team in controlling project costs and minimizing rework.
• Identify scope changes and potential management of change with project team.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Project Superintendent who will be responsible for the day-to-day management of construction activities on a job site. This role ensures that projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to plans, specifications, and quality standards. The superintendent serves as the primary on-site leader coordinating subcontractors, trades, suppliers, inspections, and field staff.

The role bridges field execution and project management by maintaining productivity, resolving site issues, and enforcing safety and compliance requirements.

The Project Engineer works closely with operations teams, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure projects meet technical, safety, environmental, and commercial requirements.

Reporting to the Capital Projects Manager, this role is offered on an 5/2,4/3 days roster.

As Project Superintendent your duties will entail the following, however not limited to:

• Manage Project Engineers for all site related projects
• Coordinate sequencing of work to maintain project flow and productivity

• Work with project team to maintain short-term and long-term schedules

About You

To be successful, you will bring the following skills, experience and personal attributes:

• Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or relevant discipline)
• 10–15+ years of relevant engineering/project management experience.
• Team leadership and conflict resolution
• Decision-making under pressure
• Strong organizational and multitasking ability
• Problem-solving and proactive response to project delay and team management
• Ability to motivate contractors and Project Engineers and maintain accountability
• Strong verbal and written communication
• Ability to coordinate across multiple internal and external stakeholders

• Meeting facilitation and reporting (weekly, monthly, quarterly)
• Project management experience (all project levels)
• Work with independent scheduler for all projects
