Job summary

The Department of Justice and Community Safety VIC in Melbourne is seeking a Projects Officer to manage a robust correspondence portfolio within the System Performance Branch. You’ll record, investigate and respond to complex written and verbal enquiries, including those from custody situations and legal representatives.

The role reports to the Senior Projects Officer and requires liaising with prison staff and stakeholders to interpret policies and deliver thorough, well-argued responses.

Qualifications

• Sound knowledge and understanding of the Victorian correctional system, particularly prison operations, policies and procedures and functions of Corrections Victoria.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare complex written correspondence.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the management of the correspondence portfolio by recording correspondence, verifying complaints, responding to requests and providing comprehensive responses to complex verbal and written enquiries from people including those in custody, their families and legal representatives.
• Consult and liaise with key stakeholders and relevant prison staff to gather information about identified issues, to respond effectively to correspondence.
• Provide analysis and interpretation of information using relevant prison information systems such as PIMS and E Justice.
