Job summary

The client seeks an accomplished Project Manager to deliver two major greenfield stations on the Sunshine Coast as part of The Wave program. You will lead four Area Managers and a sizable multidisciplinary team across Aura and Bells Creek, establishing delivery rhythm and accountability across program, commercial, construction, safety and quality.

Our client is an established national infrastructure contractor with a strong reputation for delivering complex transport infrastructure while maintaining a practical, connected leadership environment.

They are delivering a significant component of The Wave, a transformational transport program that will create a new high capacity public transport connection for the Sunshine Coast.

This appointment comes at an important point for both the project and the business. Major infrastructure capability is growing, the leadership team is being established and experienced people have the opportunity to take meaningful ownership rather than becoming one layer within a large project structure.

The opportunity

This is a Project Manager role with genuine scale.

You will take end to end responsibility for the delivery of two major new greenfield stations at Aura and Bells Creek, leading four Area Managers and a substantial multidisciplinary engineering and construction team across both sites.

The scope brings together elevated platforms, significant concrete and structural works, station buildings, architectural packages, lifts, services, surrounding civil works and interfaces with adjoining viaduct infrastructure.

Importantly, these are new greenfield stations rather than brownfield construction around an operating rail environment. You have the opportunity to build major transport infrastructure from the ground up while still taking on the multidisciplinary complexity that makes station delivery such a rewarding challenge.

Your role will sit above individual work fronts. You will establish the delivery rhythm across both stations, create accountability through your Area Managers and maintain visibility across program, commercial performance, construction, engineering, safety and quality.

You are comfortable bringing engineering, construction and commercial teams together, challenging thinking when required and creating clarity when complexity starts to build.

Just as importantly, you enjoy developing capable people. You want your Area Managers, engineers and supervisors making good decisions without every issue having to come through you.

Desired skills and experience

Your career will likely have been developed within a Tier 1 or major Tier 2 contractor delivering complex transport infrastructure.

Direct station experience would be highly regarded, but it is not the only pathway. Your experience may have been built across major rail structures, elevated rail, bridges, viaducts, level crossing programs or similarly complex multidisciplinary infrastructure.

You will bring credible experience across structural concrete, precast or steel structures and major civil interfaces, together with the commercial judgement and leadership maturity required to operate at Project Manager level.

Most importantly, you will have moved beyond managing individual packages.

You are ready to lead substantial teams, empower experienced people beneath you and remain accountable for the overall project outcome.
