Job summary

Aurec Group is seeking a Project Manager (Electrical Substation) for a 12-month contract based in Canberra. You will manage delivery of electrical substation and distribution projects, focusing on conduit/cable laying and HV systems, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and budget control.

You will coordinate with engineers, construction managers, and field leaders, applying PMBOK standards and using MS Project, SAP, and Excel to forecast costs and maintain schedules.

• Ensure full compliance with HSEQ Management and Risk Management Plans.
• Apply PMBOK-based frameworks to produce Project Management Plans and related documentation.
• Maintain project schedules using MS Project, manage resources, and forecast costs using SAP and Excel.

Daily rate: $950 (inc SUPER)

ROLE OVERVIEW

Project Manager (Electrical Substation) with solid experience of both the commercial and technical aspects of delivering electrical substation and distribution projects. You will manage a portfolio of new infrastructure projects, supporting the growth of the electricity network. At this stage most of the work is conduit/cable laying.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Oversee all project delivery phases, from tender to closeout, ensuring alignment with organizational policies and procedures.

Efficiently plan and coordinate project delivery to meet or exceed customer requirements.

Manage field-based activities, including time, cost, quality, and safety, in collaboration with a project team (engineer, construction manager, and field leaders).

Conduct risk assessments and workshops to mitigate HSE and enterprise risks.

Lead communication with internal and external stakeholders, including C-suite executives, through status updates, board papers, and memos.

Ensure full compliance with HSEQ Management and Risk Management Plans.

Apply PMBOK-based frameworks to produce Project Management Plans and related documentation.

MORE ABOUT YOU

Proven experience in projects within utilities infrastructure or industrial electrical environments.

Extensive proven experience working with HV systems in Transmission Lines and/or Substations.

Documented experience working with HV systems in construction, industrial, or utility environments.

Experience influencing and engaging with a broad range of stakeholders to achieve outcomes whilst develop strong working relationships.

Ability to lead and motivate teams and subcontractors to achieve project milestones.

Expertise in managing budgets, controlling costs, and delivering financial outcomes.

Advanced skills in MS Office, including MS Project; SAP experience is a plus.

A degree in Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline, is highly desired.
