Job summary

HRM Contracting and consulting on the Sunshine Coast is seeking a proactive Project Manager to deliver commercial fitout and refurbishment projects from pre-construction to completion. Work closely with senior management and take on increasing responsibility as the business grows.

You will manage client, consultant and subcontractor relationships while maintaining programme, cost control and safety standards across varied live sites.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering commercial construction, fitout or refurbishment projects.
• Proven ability to lead projects from procurement to completion.
• Strong management of subcontractors, consultants and clients.
• Sound commercial knowledge including variations, claims and cost reporting.
• Ability to manage programmes and coordinate multiple stakeholders.
• Clear written and verbal communication.
• Construction management, building or trade qualifications.
• Experience in live, occupied, government or defence environments is advantageous.

Our client is a well-established commercial fitout and refurbishment contractor based on the Sunshine Coast, with more than 35 years' experience delivering projects for businesses across Australia. Known for combining strong construction delivery with thoughtful design outcomes, they've built a reputation for quality, reliability and long-term client relationships.

About the Role
Reporting to the Director, you'll take responsibility for the delivery of commercial fitout and refurbishment projects from pre-construction through to completion. This is a genuine opportunity for an ambitious construction professional to step into a Project Manager role without being thrown in the deep end unsupported. You'll have direct access to senior management, exposure to varied projects, and clear scope to take on greater responsibility as the business continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing projects from contract award through to practical completion
• Coordinating clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal stakeholders
• Managing project programmes, procurement and construction delivery
• Overseeing project costs, variations, claims and commercial performance
• Chairing project meetings and maintaining clear client communication

About You
You'll have experience delivering commercial construction, fitout or refurbishment projects. You may currently be working as a Contracts Administrator and looking for the opportunity to step into a Project Manager position, but you'll need to already demonstrate genuine project leadership rather than simply wanting the title.

You'll ideally bring

• Experience with a commercial builder, fitout contractor or refurbishment contractor
• Exposure to projects from procurement through to completion
• Strong subcontractor, consultant and client management skills
• Sound commercial knowledge, including variations, claims and cost reporting
• The ability to manage programmes and coordinate multiple project stakeholders
• Clear written and verbal communication
• A practical, accountable approach to project delivery
• Relevant construction management, building or trade qualifications
• Experience delivering projects in live, occupied, government or defence environments is advantageous but not essential.
