Job summary

Zenith Executive Search is partnering with a Brisbane-based civil contractor to appoint an experienced Project Manager for 3–4 concurrent projects across South East Queensland.

You will oversee civil packages including retaining walls, earthworks and structural landscaping, driving delivery from planning through to completion while maintaining budgets and client relationships.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Contractor-side project management experience.
• Hands-on civil construction background; progressed from Site Engineer to Project Engineer.
• Experience delivering retaining walls, earthworks and structural landscaping.
• Strong commercial understanding: cost control, forecasting, procurement.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Confident communicator with leadership and problem-solving skills.
• Motivated and proactive within a smaller hands-on team.

Responsibilities

• Managing multiple civil construction projects from start to finish.
• Overseeing retaining walls, concrete sleeper walls, interlocking block walls, earthworks, drainage and structural landscaping.
• Managing project budgets, forecasting, daily cost tracking and commercial performance.
• Coordinating subcontractors, site teams, plant, equipment and resources.
• Ensuring QA/QC compliance, safety standards and project specifications are maintained.
• Managing project programming, procurement, variations and client relationships.
• Contributing to tendering, estimating and submissions for future projects.
• Leading and developing project teams while supporting the continued growth of the business.

The Opportunity

Zenith Search is partnering with an established Brisbane-based civil contractor looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to join their growing team.

Specialising in civil construction, retaining structures and structural landscaping, our client delivers a diverse range of projects across South East Queensland, including retaining walls, bulk earthworks, drainage and associated civil infrastructure.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong, commercially minded Project Manager looking to step away from the larger corporate environment and take genuine ownership of project delivery within a close-knit, ambitious team.

The Role

You will be responsible for managing approximately 3-4 projects simultaneously, overseeing delivery from initial planning through to completion.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing multiple civil construction projects from start to finish.

• Overseeing retaining walls, concrete sleeper walls, interlocking block walls, earthworks, drainage and structural landscaping packages.

• Managing project budgets, forecasting, daily cost tracking and commercial performance.

About You

• Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.

• Proven contractor-side experience as a Project Manager or an accomplished Senior Project Engineer ready to step up.

• Strong hands‑on civil construction background, ideally having progressed through Site Engineer and Project Engineer positions.

• Experience delivering retaining walls, concrete structures, earthworks, subdivisions or structural landscaping packages.

• Strong commercial understanding, including cost control, forecasting, procurement and subcontractor management.

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.

• Confident communicator with strong leadership, problem‑solving and organisational skills.

• Motivated, proactive and comfortable working within a smaller, hands‑on project delivery team.
