Project Manager – Landscape Construction ($3M–$5M+ Packages)

Randstad is excited to be supporting our valued business partner, an established market leader in civil, commercial, and infrastructure landscape construction, to source an experienced Project Manager.

Delivering complex, high‑profile packages across Australia’s East Coast for over 50 years, our client has built a solid reputation across major transport corridors, railway infrastructure, airport upgrades, commercial developments, and large‑scale environmental works. Operating with a commitment to high standards, safety, and reliability, they offer a values‑driven culture supported by modern operational hubs, structured WHS systems, ongoing professional development, and a strong long‑term project pipeline.

About the Role:

Reporting directly to the State Manager, the Project Manager will take full operational, financial, and contractual governance of major civil and commercial landscape packages valued between $3 million and $5 million+. Operating across multiple state‑of‑the‑art office hubs and travelling to active site locations across South‑East Queensland, you will lead complex project life‑cycles from early procurement through to contract administration, site management, and client handover.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Project Execution: Formulate comprehensive project delivery plans, procurement programs, staging schedules, and baseline budgets, establishing clear build‑ability goals with client teams from day one.
  • Commercial Performance & Margin Control: Drive rigorous budget tracking, forecast cash flows, manage financial metrics to protect project gross profit, and proactively mitigate commercial risks.
  • Advanced Contract Administration: Lead head contract and subcontract management, including precise handling of Requests for Information (RFIs), Extensions of Time (EOTs), scope variations, progress claims, and contractual correspondence.
  • Operational Leadership & Risk Mitigation: Identify site, program, and environmental risks early, partnering with Site Supervisors to maintain site momentum and resolve operational bottlenecks swiftly.
  • Stakeholder & Client Management: Serve as the primary client interface, providing transparent progress reporting, fostering trusted relationships, and driving high customer satisfaction at handover.
  • Resource Optimisation: Direct workforce allocation, plant, equipment, and material procurement across multiple active sites in SEQ to maximise operational efficiency.
  • Safety & Quality Systems: Drive a strong safety culture, ensuring 100% compliance with SWMS, environmental management controls, and quality assurance frameworks.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
  • 5+ years of Project Management experience within commercial landscape construction, civil engineering, or Tier 1/Tier 2 construction environments.
  • Proven track record managing major civil or structural landscape packages valued from $3M to $5M+.
  • Contract administration capability across standard construction contracts, with demonstrated skill in managing variations, EOTs, RFIs, and progress claims.
  • High‑level commercial acumen, project forecasting, cost control, and risk management capability.
  • Strong leadership capability across internal site teams, specialized subcontractors, and material suppliers.
  • Deep competency in workplace health and safety (WHS) management, SWMS implementation, and quality assurance.
Highly Regarded:
  • Comprehensive technical knowledge across hardscape (paving, retaining, civil works) and softscape (revegetation, planting, irrigation) disciplines.
  • Tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Project Management, or Civil Engineering.
  • Experience working on Queensland transport/infrastructure projects, TMR specifications, or alongside Tier 1 head contractors.
  • Proficiency with project scheduling software and/or Certificate IV in WHS.
What is Offered
  • Competitive base salary package from $120,000 – $140,000 + Super + company vehicle
  • Opportunity to lead highly visible, complex civil infrastructure and commercial landscape developments.
  • Genuine career progression and training backed by an established national contractor.
