Job summary

ARA Mechanical Services is seeking a Project Manager in Sydney to lead HVAC projects from inception to closeout. You will plan, schedule, budget and supervise cross-functional teams, ensuring safety, quality and on-time delivery.

You'll coordinate with engineers, contractors and suppliers, manage procurement, track costs and reports, and maintain strong client relations throughout project lifecycles. A valid driver’s license is required and visa sponsorship is not offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management or related field.
• 5–10 years of HVAC project management experience.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and industry standards.
• Proficiency with project management software.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage comprehensive project plans including scope, schedule, budget and resources.
• Coordinate with engineers, architects, subcontractors and suppliers to meet requirements.
• Oversee procurement of materials and equipment for timely delivery and cost control.
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress and ensure safety and quality.
• Maintain project documentation: submittals, RFIs, change orders and reports.
• Develop and manage budgets, track expenses and identify savings.
• Prepare invoices and progress billings.
• Negotiate and manage subcontractor and supplier contracts.
• Lead and motivate project teams; provide direction and support.
• Serve as primary contact for clients and stakeholders.

The Project Manager is responsible for the successful planning, execution and completion of projects from inception to closeout. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and exceptional communication skills to manage project teams, budgets, schedules, and client relationships. The Project Manager ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, and resource allocation.
• Coordinate with engineers, architects, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure project requirements are met.
• Oversee the procurement of materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effectiveness.
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, identify potential issues, and ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
• Manage and track project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, change orders and progress reports.
• Develop and manage project budgets, tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
• Prepare and submit accurate and timely invoices and progress billings.
• Negotiate and manage subcontractor and supplier contracts.
• Lead and motivate project teams, providing clear direction and support.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.

About you

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
• 5-10 years of experience in HVAC project management.
• Proven track record of successfully managing HVAC projects of varying sizes and complexities.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, equipment, and industry standards.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Procore, Aconex etc).
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to read and interpret standards, specifications, and technical drawings.
• Knowledge of building codes and safety regulations.
• Valid driver's license.
