Job summary

Australian Rail Track Corp. is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead major maintenance and infrastructure initiatives across the ARTC network.

You will oversee strategy, planning, delivery and handover, coordinating internal and external teams while ensuring safety, quality and environmental compliance. The role requires strong background in civil infrastructure, track and signalling projects, with tendering experience and solid cost/schedule control.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in engineering maintenance and/or construction of track and civil infrastructure and signalling and structures.
  • Demonstrates strong technical capability in design development.
  • Experience leading teams in the delivery of major works projects.
  • Experience in tendering and negotiating contracts of varying complexity.
  • Strong cost, budget and schedule management skills.
  • Awareness of Work Health and Safety principles and rail safety legislation.
  • Experience with critical path project programming and proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools.
  • Commercial acumen and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex operational environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of major maintenance and infrastructure projects in accordance with ARTC’s objectives, project management procedures and governance requirements.
  • Manage project scope, cost, schedule, safety, environmental impact, reliability and maintainability from strategy through to handover.
  • Monitor and report on physical and financial progress, including risks, issues, opportunities and milestones.
  • Coordinate internal and external stakeholders and facilitate required approvals, including environmental and planning approvals.
  • Develop Project Management Plans and ensure projects are appropriately planned to support successful delivery.
  • Lead internal and external project teams, working collaboratively to achieve project objectives.
  • Plan and coordinate project activities to minimise impacts on rail operations and ensure work complies with ARTC safety, quality and environmental requirements.
  • Manage contractors and consultants, including tendering, procurement and contract negotiations where required.
  • Apply ARTC’s Project Management Procedures across all stages of the project lifecycle.
  • Contribute to other projects and undertake other duties as required.

About the Team

Our Operations team works with a diverse customer base to support several nationally significant supply chains. With management responsibility spanning across five states, our 8,500km rail network is used to transport bulk products, passenger and general freight, including steel and a vast array of consumer items such as groceries, electrical goods and other items for both import and export markets.

The Operations teams work within several complex and challenging environments, including some of the busiest rail corridors in Australia to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable service delivery outcomes for its customers, stakeholders and the community.

About the Opportunity

We are currently seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Major Maintenance Team.

In this role, you will lead the delivery of discrete majormaintenance and infrastructure projects, ranging in value from $0.1M to $10M,supporting the successful delivery of ARTC’s Annual Works Plan and strategicobjectives.

You will be responsible for managing projects across thefull project lifecycle, from strategy and planning through to delivery andhandover. This includes managing project scope, cost, schedule, safety, environmental impact, reliability and maintainability requirements.

Working collaboratively with internal and externalstakeholders, you will play an important role in ensuring projects aredelivered safely, efficiently and with minimal impact on rail operations.

Key responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Leadthe delivery of major maintenance and infrastructure projects inaccordance with ARTC’s objectives, project management procedures andgovernance requirements.

What do we want from you?

Tobe successful in this role, you will:

  • Bringextensive experience in engineering maintenance and/or construction of trackand civil infrastructure and signalling and structures.
  • Demonstratesound technical capability in design development.

Itwould be advantageous if you also have:
  • Hold adegree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification and be eligiblefor membership of Engineers Australia.
  • Experiencemanaging projects in a rail environment.
  • Knowledgeand experience of Track Possession Windows and Track Occupancy planning.
  • Knowledgeof railway systems.
  • Knowledgeof Australian Standards for track infrastructure and the Railway NationalCode of Practice.
