Job summary

Greater Western Water in Footscray is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a portfolio of capital works within the Infrastructure Delivery team, ensuring safety, quality and regulatory compliance across WSAA standards. Working with internal stakeholders and delivery partners, you will foster strong relationships and drive successful project outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Civil/Mechanical/Chemical) or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in project and program management for capital works programmes.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering design, construction methods, standards and asset delivery practices with safety, quality, and compliance focus.
  • Proven experience in contract management, procurement and construction contract administration.
  • Well-developed financial and budgeting skills including forecasting and reporting.
  • Experience working with delivery partners and stakeholders to achieve outcomes and drive improvement.
  • Active Victorian Drivers License.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of allocated infrastructure projects and programs, ensuring on-time, on-budget outcomes and compliance with standards and policies.
  • Manage end-to-end procurement, contract administration and delivery of construction projects with governance and probity.
  • Monitor and report on project performance including budget, risks, claims, and variations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and delivery partners to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Oversee commissioning and handover activities, ensuring assets are operational and documentation is accurate.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, residents, councils and agencies to support project delivery.
  • Promote safety, customer-centricity and high-performance culture within the team.

The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to join Greater Western Water’s Infrastructure Delivery team and play a pivotal role in delivering a diverse portfolio of capital works projects. Reporting to the Team Leader, you will provide leadership across the successful delivery and completion of GWW’s programmed works, ensuring our non-negotiable commitments to safety, quality, environmental protection and compliance with WSAA requirements, Australian Standards and industry best practice are consistently achieved. Working closely with internal stakeholders and delivery partners, you will foster high-performing relationships that support outstanding project outcomes while helping position GWW as a leader in the water industry. You will also contribute to a customer-first culture focused on high performance, people development and continuous improvement, playing a key role in delivering GWW’s customer-centric vision through our Service Delivery Strategy.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of allocated infrastructure projects and programs, ensuring outcomes meet customer, stakeholder and project sponsor requirements, while remaining on time, on budget and compliant with relevant standards, legislation and GWW policies.
  • Manage the end-to-end procurement, contract administration and delivery of construction projects, maintaining appropriate probity, governance and commercial controls throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor, track and report on project performance, including budget management, financial reporting, risk assessment and mitigation, and the review of contractor progress claims and variations.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, stakeholders and delivery partners to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and enhance program delivery outcomes across the business.
  • Oversee project commissioning and handover activities, ensuring assets are fully operational, as-constructed documentation is accurate, and operational teams are prepared to safely and efficiently manage new infrastructure.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, residents, landowners, delivery partners, local councils, government agencies and other key stakeholders to support successful project delivery and enhance GWW’s reputation.
  • Champion a culture of safety, customer-centricity and collaboration by promoting innovative ways of working, sharing knowledge, mentoring colleagues and contributing to a high-performing, agile and trusted team environment.
Skills & Experience
  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Civil/Mechanical/Chemical), or a related field, with the ability to apply technical and project delivery expertise in a complex infrastructure environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in project and program management, including the use of project management tools to successfully deliver capital works programs and infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering design, construction methodologies, relevant standards and asset delivery practices, with a focus on safety, quality and compliance.
  • Proven experience in contract management, procurement and the administration of construction contracts, with sound commercial and risk management capability.
  • Well-developed financial and budget management skills, including project forecasting, cost control and financial reporting.
  • Experience working collaboratively with delivery partners, contractors and multidisciplinary stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes and drive continuous improvement.
  • Proven capability in managing health, safety and environmental requirements within construction or maintenance environments, with experience in regulatory approvals, public and private sector projects, and formal Project Management, Construction Management or Construction/Commercial Law qualifications highly regarded.
  • Active Victorian Drivers License
