Job summary

Greater Western Water is seeking a Senior Engineer, Water Network Operations to provide technical leadership in the operation and monitoring of drinking water network assets across Victoria's growing regions. You will optimise water quality performance, drive continuous improvement, manage key project delivery, and collaborate with operations and analytics teams to deliver safe, reliable drinking water.

This permanent full-time role offers flexible onsite and WFH options, with a tool-of-trade

Qualifications

  • Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental or Civil Engineering.
  • Experience in water or network operations engineering with relevant standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in program or project delivery and supporting engineering investigations and improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret operational data.
  • Experience using operational and asset management systems, water quality systems, SCADA reporting and BI tools.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyse Water quality and network performance.
  • Identify and investigate operational risks and performance anomalies.
  • Manage critical performance parameters to ensure compliance with Australian Drinking Water Guidelines and regulations.
  • Provide technical expertise and engineering support for major projects and network planning.
  • Support the operationalisation of the Drinking Water Risk Management Plan and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance water quality outcomes and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with operational and analytics teams to develop dashboards and performance reporting.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through the application of HAZOP, HACCP and risk management principles.

The opportunity

Join our Water Network Operations team in a permanent full-time role and help ensure the delivery of safe, reliable drinking water services across one of Australia's fastest-growing regions.

As Senior Engineer, Water Network Operations, you will provide technical expertise and leadership to optimise the operation of drinking water network assets, supporting the delivery of consistent, reliable and safe drinking water to our customers. You'll play a key role in monitoring water quality performance, improving operational and water quality performance, reducing risks across the network and identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency and reliability.

You'll provide technical input into operational, planning and improvement initiatives. Working across assets including pump stations, pipelines, tanks and chlorinators, you'll play a key role in maintaining water quality, improving asset reliability and network resilience.

This is a collaborative role where your technical expertise and analytical skills will help improve network water quality management , reduce operational risks, and enhance the performance and reliability of GWW’s drinking water network.

Responsibilities
