Job summary

Transport for NSW is seeking a Project Engineer for a REZ initiative in Newcastle, NSW. This fixed-term role supports large-scale infrastructure, energy and transport projects and requires coordinating with multiple stakeholders to deliver outcomes.

The role offers a 2-year assignment ending 30 June 2028 and will be based in Newcastle with occasional travel and non-standard hours as needed. A four-year engineering degree and a current Australian driver’s licence are required.

Qualifications

• Four-year engineering degree from an Australian university or recognised overseas qualification.
• Australian driver’s licence.
• Willingness to travel and work outside standard business hours.
• Experience delivering infrastructure, transport, roads, utilities, energy, or major construction projects.
• Strong understanding of road corridor design, route assessments, traffic management, and transport logistics.

Responsibilities

• Be a solutions focused Project Engineer delivering on complex infrastructure, transport, road, and utilities projects.
• Collaborate with multiple stakeholders including government bodies, transport operators, utility providers and project teams.
• Focus on engineering challenges that contribute to large scale energy and infrastructure projects.
• Comply with safety, environmental, and governance requirements, maintaining project records, and contributing to effective project outcomes.
