Job summary

Downer Group is seeking a Project Engineer – Infrastructure to join the Riverina Redevelopment Program at RAAF Base Wagga. You will support planning and delivery of road and civil works, coordinating earthworks, drainage and pavements with subcontractors to achieve safe, high-quality outcomes.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree and 6–8 years of project engineering experience delivering road infrastructure, strong cost control, forecasting and contract administration.

Qualifications

• Degree qualification in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• 6–8 years’ Project Engineering experience with road infrastructure including earthworks, drainage and pavements.
• Strong understanding of cost control, forecasting, contract administration and project reporting.
• Proven ability to build effective working relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
• Proactive, safety-focused approach with commitment to quality, delivery and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate construction work packages from planning through to completion
• Oversee subcontractor performance, ensuring safety, quality, programme and cost targets are met

Description

The Riverina Redevelopment Joint Venture (RRJV) is a 50/50 joint venture between CPB Contractors and Downer to undertake major upgrades and replacement of existing infrastructure and facilities to support Defence capability for the next 30 years.

The proposed project consists of a program of works across three Department of Defence establishments including:

• Albury Wodonga Military Area (including North, South & East Bandiana, Latchford Barracks, Wirlinga)
• Blamey Barracks (Kapooka)
• RAAF Base Wagga

The proposed capital investment of $2 billion will incorporate a variety of elements including:

• Construction of new messing and living in accommodation
• Construction of new training facilities
• Refurbishment and upgrading of existing buildings
• Remedial works and upgrades to infrastructure services

The opportunity

We have an opportunity for a Project Engineer – Infrastructure with proven road infrastructure experience to join the Riverina Redevelopment Program at RAAF Base Wagga. Working within a Tier 1 Joint Venture Environment, you’ll support the planning and delivery of road and civil works, including earthworks, drainage and pavements, while coordinating subcontractors and work packages to achieve safe, high-quality and cost-effective outcomes.

What you’ll do

What you’ll bring

• Degree qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• 6–8 years’ Project Engineering experience, with demonstrated experience delivering road infrastructure projects including earthworks, drainage, pavements and associated civil works.
• Strong understanding of cost control, forecasting, contract administration and project reporting.
• Proven ability to build effective working relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
• A proactive, safety-focused approach with a strong commitment to quality, delivery and continuous improvement.
