Job summary

Iberdrola Australia is seeking an Electrical Operations Engineer to manage the technical performance of operating assets, focusing on compliance and improving availability through strategic asset management. Travel between wind farm sites and Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane offices is expected to assist site teams during peak operations.

Qualifications

• More than five years post-qualification experience within the energy industry.
• Experience in similar roles in the energy sector or engineering companies with energy focused roles.
• Exposure to a broad range of commercial agreements relating to electricity generation and supply.

Responsibilities

• Manage changes to inverter systems across Iberdrola Australia’s renewable assets.
• Identify and manage programs to improve asset efficiency, yield and profitability.
• Lead asset management of BESS and PV inverters, including repairs, spares and subcontractors.
• Ensure compliance with HSE, O&M contracts and insurance obligations.
• Conduct analyses to support innovation within Operations.
• Collaborate on long-term agreements and resolve contractual disputes.
• Review asset reports on operating performance and prepare ad-hoc analyses.
• Assist in annual asset budgeting and planning activities.
• Develop and improve Operations processes and maintain risk registers.
• Manage CAPEX and OPEX projects from feasibility to completion.

Job description

A global leader in green energy with aggressive and sustainable strategic green energy growth targets, requires an experienced Electrical Operations Engineer to manage the technical performance of their operating assets with a focus on compliance and improving availability through strategic working and asset management strategies. It is expected that there will be travel between the wind farm sites and their Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane offices to assist site teams during peak operations.

Responsibilities;

• Managing all changes to the invertor systems of company renewable assets.
• Identify, promote and manage programs to improve the efficiency, yield and profitability of assets.
• Lead the asset management of BESS and PV Inverters (asset information, repair status and cost, spares, subcontractors).
• Ensure commercial, regulatory and contractual obligations and milestones are met including, but not limited to HSE, O&M contracts and insurance.
• Conduct analysis to support innovation activities across the Operations team.
• Collaborate in the negotiation of long-term agreements and resolution of contractual disputes that stem from the operation of assets.
• Review the asset reports detailing individual asset operating performance.
• Prepare, review or commission ad-hoc operational and financial analysis as required.
• Assist in the development and management of annual asset budgets and other planning activities.
• Assist in the continued development of processes and procedures within the Operations team.
• Ensure all asset level key risk registers are regularly reviewed and maintained.
• Manage CAPEX and OPEX projects from feasibility to completion.
• Work with various internal and external teams to deliver projects.

Requirements;

• Exposure to a broad range of commercial agreements relating to the generation and supply of electricity.
• Experience in similar roles in the energy sector or engineering companies with energy focused roles.
• A strong knowledge of the local regulatory environment applicable to Australian energy market participants including the National Electricity Rules is highly desirable.
• Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
• Self-motivated, self-disciplined and highly results orientated. High level of initiative and proactive problem solving essential.
• Demonstrated ability to adhere to deadlines and deliver under pressure.
• The confidence to collaborate and build strong relationships across different levels of seniority.
• The ability to handle a variety of projects at any one time and deal with competing priorities.
• Senior First Aid Certificate
• More than five years post qualification experience within the energy industry.
• Availability to travel to the generation assets.
• Prepared to attain and maintain certifications in High Voltage.
