Job summary

Premier Commercial Solutions is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to lead engineering delivery on a major bulk earthworks project. This hands-on site role requires strong civil knowledge, decisive on-site leadership, and coordination with PMs, supervisors, and subcontractors.

You will own daily on-site engineering, drive production targets, manage ITPs and quality records, and support commercial aspects such as variations while maintaining safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years’ experience as a Project Engineer or Site Engineer on civil or bulk earthworks projects.
• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline.
• C-class driver’s licence and Construction Industry White Card.
• Experience coordinating with clients, subcontractors and design teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead site engineering for bulk earthworks from planning through execution and close-out.
• Develop and control construction methodologies, staging plans and short-term look‑aheads.
• Coordinate survey, set-out, ITPs and as-constructed records for quality compliance.
• Manage RFIs, design coordination and constructability issues with client and consultants.
• Drive daily/weekly production, haul planning and resource utilisation.
• Support subcontract management and quantify variations and delays.

Job description

Premier Commercial Solutions is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join a leading civil contractor delivering a major bulk earthworks project. This is a long-term opportunity on a flagship job with years of runway ahead of it.

The role is DIDO / FIFO ex Brisbane on a 2:1 roster. It offers the rare combination of a genuinely large-scale earthworks package and the security of ongoing, multi-year work.

About the Role

You will take day-to-day ownership of engineering delivery on site, working closely with the project manager, supervisors, commercial team, client and subcontractors to drive production, quality and programme. This is a hands-on site position requiring strong civil earthworks knowledge, commercial awareness, and the confidence to make decisions under pressure across the full life of the project.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead site engineering for bulk earthworks and associated civil works, from planning through execution and close-out


• Develop and control construction methodologies, staging plans, short-term look-aheads and the detailed works programme


• Coordinate survey, set-out, hold points, ITPs and as-constructed records to maintain quality and compliance


• Manage RFIs, technical queries, design coordination and constructability issues with the client, superintendent and consultants


• Drive daily and weekly production, haul planning, cut/fill balance and resource utilisation


• Support subcontract management, including scope definition, engagement, performance monitoring and close-out


• Work with the commercial team on quantities, variations, delay events and contemporaneous records


• Uphold rigorous safety, environmental and quality outcomes on a live earthworks site


• Maintain constructive relationships with the client, superintendent, project team and subcontractors

About You

• You are a proven Project Engineer with a strong civil earthworks background. You bring technical credibility on site, discipline in the records, and the ability to keep a major package moving with minimal oversight.


• 5–10 years’ experience as a Project Engineer or Site Engineer on civil or bulk earthworks projects


• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline


• Demonstrated experience in bulk earthworks, including cut/fill, haul, treatment, compaction and associated civil works


• Sound working knowledge of construction programming, quality systems, ITPs and site documentation


• Commercial awareness: quantities, variations, delay records and contract administration on live projects


• Clear, decisive communicator able to operate effectively across site, subcontractors and client


• Current C-class driver’s licence and Construction Industry White Card


• Willingness to work a DIDO / FIFO 2:1 roster ex Brisbane
