Job summary

Randstad Australia is seeking a Project Engineer to lead early-stage ECI activities for modular housing projects in NSW. You will interface with design teams, manage procurement, and oversee quality across multiple sites from our Sydney HQ.

The role requires 3+ years in Australian commercial/building sectors, MMC exposure, and a degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering. A Sydney-based site-facing role with occasional site visits is offered.

Qualifications

• 3+ years as Site/Project Engineer in Australian commercial or multi-residential sectors.
• Experience with MMC/modular construction is highly regarded.
• Experience managing design documentation, procurement and value engineering during pre-construction.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.

• ECI & design interface with design teams, engineers and off-site modular manufacturers.
• Procurement and scope management: package subcontracts and source long-lead components.
• Project controls: track budgets, timelines, design variations and QA across sites.
• Head office and site liaison: operate from Bondi Junction HQ with travel to regional sites.
• Stakeholder relations: maintain communication with clients, councils and partners.

About The Opportunity

Our client, an innovative construction group specialising in modern methods of construction, is looking for a driven Project Engineer to join their team based out of their Eastern Suburbs Sydney head office.

The business has secured a pipeline of landmark developments, starting with two modular housing projects totalling $40M in regional NSW, alongside upcoming residential and commercial opportunities across Sydney. With the projects currently in the ECI phase, you will have the unique opportunity to get involved early-shaping construct ability, off-site procurement, and design before site delivery kicks off.

Key Responsibilities

• ECI & Design Interface: Work closely with design teams, structural engineers, and off-site modular manufacturers to review constructability and refine build details.
• Procurement & Scope Management: Package up subcontracts, manage vendor agreements, and source long-lead pre-fabricated components.
• Project Controls: Track budgets, program timelines, design variations, and quality assurance workflows across multiple job sites.
• Head Office & Site Liaison: Drive operations from the Bondi Junction HQ, with occasional travel to regional project sites to oversee staging and groundwork's.
• Stakeholder Relations: Maintain active communication with clients, local councils, and key project partners.

What We're Looking For

• Experience: 3+ years of experience as a Site/Project Engineer within Australian commercial or multi-residential building sectors.
• Modular Knowledge: Prior exposure to pre-fabricated, modular, or modern methods of construction (MMC) is highly regarded.
• ECI Capability: Experience managing design documentation, procurement, and value engineering during pre-construction.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Flexibility: Head office-based in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs, with the flexibility to visit active sites as needed.
