Job summary

Opal in Botany, NSW, is seeking two Project Engineers to drive CAPEX initiatives across the paper mill with a strong emphasis on safety, compliance, efficiency and profitability.

The role requires an engineering degree (mechanical/mechatronics/electrical) and at least five years' experience in project engineering or management, plus proven ability to lead multiple projects and engage diverse stakeholders.

Qualifications

• An engineering degree in mechanical/mechatronics/electrical is required.
• 5 years of experience in project engineering/ project management.
• Ability to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders.
• Experience overseeing multiple projects at once.
• Experience in a continuous manufacturing environment (preferably heavy industry).
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Identify and scope CAPEX projects.
• Oversee the implementation of CAPEX projects.
• Manage multiple projects across the entire paper mill operation.
• Ensure change management is handled in a structured and controlled manner.
• Coordinate with site groups to scope and develop project plans.
• Set and manage the project budget.
• Identify project risks and implement mitigation plans.
• Coordinate all activities and work for the initiatives (including contractors, work teams, external project managers).

Opal is an industry-leading paper and packaging business across Australia and New Zealand. We have an exciting opportunity to join the Opal team as our site in Botany, NSW is currently looking for 2 Project Engineers to come onboard!

With the ongoing development of our Paper Mill in Botany, there is a strong pipeline of initiatives that require dedicated project management to see them through to completion, with a high level of emphasis on safety/compliance, efficiency, and profitability.

The key focus of this role will be to:

• Properly identify and scope CAPEX projects
• Oversee the implementation of CAPEX projects
• Manage multiple projects across the entire paper mill operation
• Ensure Change management is handled in structured and controlled manner
• Working closely with the site groups to scope and develop project plans
• Setting and managing the project budget
• Identifying project risks and implement mitigation plans
• Coordinating all activities and work for the initiatives link to project (including: coordinate with contractors, manage work teams, liaise with external project managers, etc.)
