Job summary

Daikin Australia is seeking a talented Project Engineer specialising in AHU and custom HVAC equipment to join our local manufacturing operations. You will lead the development, design and execution of Make to Order HVAC projects, optimizing designs for quality, performance and Australian standards.

In this hands-on role you will create detailed drawings, 3D models, and production instructions, collaborate across procurement, QA and sales, and provide on-site technical support to production teams

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree (Mechanical preferred); CPEng/MIEAust advantageous.
  • 3–5 years in a project or design engineering role within the Australian HVAC industry.
  • Hands-on CAD experience (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Revit) and HVAC fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, DFMA, and energy‑efficient design.

Responsibilities

  • Create detailed drawings, 3D models, and cost estimations for custom HVAC products in support of sales and business development activities.
  • Develop accurate manufacturing drawings and production instructions for successful project tenders.
  • Specify and select high‑quality materials, components, and equipment aligned with project scope, industry standards, and sustainability goals.
  • Provide hands‑on technical support to production teams during assembly and fabrication, troubleshooting design and technical issues as they arise.
  • Maintain complete technical documentation, project schedules, and progress reports while collaborating cross‑functionally across procurement, quality assurance, and sales teams.

About The Role

We are seeking a talented and motivated Project Engineer specialising in AHU & Custom HVAC Equipment to join our local Manufacturing operations.

In this hands‑on role, you will be responsible for the development, design, and execution of local Make to Order (MTO) HVAC projects. You will work directly on optimizing custom equipment designs for quality, performance, manufacturability, and full compliance with Australian standards.

Key Responsibilities

About You

To excel in this role, you will be a proactive engineer with a strong foundation in mechanical HVAC design and a passion for continuous improvement.

  • Tertiary degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical Engineering). Relevant professional accreditation (e.g., CPEng, MIEAust) is advantageous.
  • 3–5 years of experience in a project or design engineering role within the Australian HVAC industry.
  • Hands‑on experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Revit) and sound knowledge of HVAC principles, airflow dynamics, thermodynamics, and acoustics.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA), and energy efficiency/sustainable design practices.
  • Strong project management skills to handle multiple tasks concurrently, paired with excellent communication and team‑collaboration abilities.
