Job summary

Harmony is seeking an experienced Project Engineer in Australia to lead planning, coordination, delivery and commissioning of mining-related projects. You will support engineering, construction, maintenance, and improvement across mine infrastructure, processing plants, civil works, mechanical and electrical systems, and underground operations.

Reporting to the Projects Superintendent, the role operates on an 8/6 days roster with responsibilities spanning cost, schedule, risk, and vendor

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or relevant discipline).
  • Previous experience in mining, construction, heavy industry, or resources projects.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles.
  • Knowledge of mining safety regulations and site procedures.
  • Proficiency with project scheduling and reporting tools (e.g. MS Project, Primavera).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects and project execution.
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including design, procurement, and construction.
  • Review and approve engineering designs, drawings, and specifications.
  • Monitor project progress and provide daily updates inclusive of cost, schedule and risk.
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Manage relationships with internal / external clients, contractors, and vendors.
  • Continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices.
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture aligned with site standards.
  • Ensure all works comply with WHS legislation, mining regulations, and company procedures.
  • Participate in risk assessments, JHAs, toolbox talks, and incident investigations.
  • Ensure environmental and statutory compliance throughout project execution.
  • Track project expenditure against approved budgets.
  • Assist with procurement, tender evaluations, and contractor management.
  • Review invoices, variations, and progress claims.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.

About You

To be successful, you will bring the following skills, experience and personal attributes:
