Job summary

Hitachi Energy Australia Pty Ltd in Lilydale, Victoria, is seeking a Project Engineer to deliver high-quality electrical engineering solutions for complex HV projects. Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in High Voltage (HV) equipment, power substations, and electrical engineering project delivery.
• Experience in electrical design, design coordination, Safety in Design (SiD), constructability reviews, testing, commissioning, and quality assurance.
• Strong knowledge of Australian and international standards (AS/IEC).
• Proficiency in reading technical drawings and engineering documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical engineering activities across multiple projects, including design, review, testing, commissioning.
• Provide specialist technical expertise and resolve complex engineering and quality issues for customers, project teams, and facilities.
• Support the preparation of project proposals with BOMs, estimates, and technical documentation.
• Partner with Contract Managers to manage scope variations, risk assessments, and contract compliance.
• Develop and manage project work plans, budgets, schedules, and deliverables for successful execution.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and opportunities with recommendations on quality, cost, schedule, and contracts.
• Build relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders; represent the engineering team in meetings.
• Collaborate with supply chain to define technical requirements and approve equipment/services.
• Drive engineering excellence through best practices, safety, and continuous improvement.
• Mentor and support engineers and project staff; contribute to capability development.
