Job summary

Hitachi Energy Australia in Melbourne is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to deliver high-quality solutions across complex projects, providing technical leadership, customer engagement, risk management, and strong safety and quality performance.

You will mentor engineers, coordinate design, testing, commissioning, and documentation, and collaborate with customers, suppliers, and project teams to ensure on-time delivery and value realization.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years' experience with HV equipment, substations, and project delivery.
• Strong knowledge of AS/IEC standards and Safety in Design principles.
• Proficiency in reading technical drawings and documentation.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate electrical engineering activities across multiple projects, including design, review, testing, commissioning, drafting support, and site installation.
• Provide specialist technical expertise to resolve complex engineering and quality issues for customers and project teams.
• Support proposals and tenders with BOMs, estimates, and technical documentation.
• Partner with contract managers to manage scope variations, risk assessments, and contract compliance.
• Develop and manage project work plans, budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
• Mentor engineers and project staff, promoting best practices and safety.
