Job summary

SRG Global seeks an experienced Project Engineer to join our Utilities division. With water and wastewater projects moving into delivery across regional South East Queensland, this permanent role offers long-term stability and career progression.

A Civil or Mechanical Engineering degree and 4+ years of project management in civil/utilities are required. You will manage costs, QA, procurement, variations, and liaise with clients and subcontractors to deliver safely and on schedule.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management.
• 4+ years project management experience in civil/utilities.
• Ability to liaise with clients, subcontractors and teams.
• Proficient in MS Office and project documentation.

Responsibilities

• Ensure cost-effective construction methodologies and identify improvement areas.
• Track project finances and highlight margin impacts.
• Liaise with clients, subcontractors and teams on technical, commercial, and scheduling issues.
• Prepare variations, claims and subcontract agreements.
• Plan procurement activities and organise labour and equipment.
• Ensure QA requirements are met and maintain ITPs/ITCs.
• Assess risks and support incident investigations.
• Promote safety culture through pre-starts and toolbox talks.
• Review environmental procedures and closeout documentation.

SRG Global are seeking an experienced and driven Project Engineer to join our Utilities division. With several water and wastewater treatment projects moving into delivery across regional South East Queensland, this is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team and play a key role in delivering major infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate will have a Civil or Mechanical Engineering background, with demonstrated experience delivering water and wastewater infrastructure, treatment plants or similar facilities. This is a permanent opportunity offering long-term stability, genuine career progression and the chance to work as part of a high-performing team delivering critical infrastructure across the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure cost-effective construction methodologies and identify improvement areas.
• Track project finances, review costs vs. budget, and highlight margin impacts.
• Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and teams to resolve technical, commercial, and scheduling issues.
• Understand project scope and identify contractual risks and opportunities.
• Prepare variations, claims, and subcontract agreements.
• Plan procurement activities, organise labour and equipment for supervisors.
• Ensure materials and services meet QA requirements.
• Develop ITPs/ITCs, monitor quality plans, and ensure compliance.
• Assess risks, implement hazard controls, and support incident investigations.
• Promote a strong safety culture through pre-starts and toolbox talks.
• Review CEMP and environmental procedures before work begins.
• Maintain QA documentation, manage project closeout, and finalize defect claims.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or Construction Management
• 4+ years Project Management experience in the Construction Industry (Civil, Utilities and Water Infrastructure projects highly desirable).
• Ability to communicate and liaise effectively with people at all levels, and other stakeholders as required.
• Ability to adapt and be reacting to change, and to plan accordingly
• Sound skills in using Microsoft Office software and other relevant computer applications.
• Pass a pre-employment medical and D&A
