Job summary

N F Corbett is a long-established civil and commercial construction company, based in Brendale, Queensland. We are seeking a Project Engineer to own technical performance from onboarding through close-out, ensuring conformance to drawings, specs, and QA standards.

The role involves reviewing designs, managing submittals and RFIs, coordinating procurement and deliveries, and supporting scheduling and subcontractor coordination.

Qualifications

• 3+ years postgraduate full-time civil infrastructure experience, with focus on FRP and earthworks.
• Hold a tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
• Experience in quality assurance for civil projects.
• Willingness to travel to site visits as required.
• Strong organisational and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure works are completed per specifications through quality control processes.
• Interpret and review drawings and specifications; provide technical advice throughout delivery phases.
• Manage technical submittals, RFIs and non-conformances.
• Assist in procurement, prepare scopes of work, coordinate suppliers and deliveries.
• Assist scheduling, resource planning and coordination of subcontractors and suppliers; build cross-team relationships.

About the Job

Working as part of the Project Team, we are looking for someone that is comfortable taking ownership of the technical performance of a project, taking ownership and responsibility of the technical functions from project onboarding through to final close out.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Ensuring works are completed in accordance with specifications, drawings, and project requirements, through the development, implementation and management of the quality control process,
• Interpreting and reviewing engineering/design drawings and specifications and providing technical advice and expertise through the project conception and delivery phases,
• The management of technical submittals and approvals, Requests for Information and Non-conformance,
• Assisting in procurement, preparing Scopes of Work, and coordinate suppliers and deliveries,
• Assisting with project scheduling, resource planning, coordination of subcontractors and suppliers,Building strong relationships across the client, consultant, subcontractor, supplier and project teams.

About You

We are looking for experienced and technically astute Project Engineer who is looking to build a long-term career.

Someone who:

• has strong technical knowledge and experience managing the quality assurance requirements of Civil Projects including FRP, earthworks, road works and underground services,
• has excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously,
• has attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and record-keeping,
• is a confident communicator and negotiator who builds strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, clients and project teams,
• has the ability to travel from time to time for site visits and meetings,
• has problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues before impacting the project, and
• is self-driven, strives to do their best, enjoys being part of a team and contributes to the inclusive and down-to-earth but professional culture of the Company.

Ideally, you will have 3+ years postgraduate full-time experience in civil infrastructure with strong focus on FRP and Earthworks delivery to State Utilities and Tier 1 Contractors and hold a relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or similar.
