Kilcomer Group is a construction and labour hire business delivering complex civil and concrete infrastructure works across QLD, NSW, ACT and SA. We work as a trusted subcontractor to leading tier-1 and tier-2 contractors on major infrastructure projects.

Our team is known for hands-on technical capability, particularly in specialised concrete and FRP (fibre reinforced polymer) works. We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer ready to advance to a Senior Project Engineer role.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience on Australian construction projects.
• FRP experience essential to project delivery.
• Relevant tertiary Civil Engineering qualification.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the engineering delivery of concrete infrastructure projects, with a strong focus on FRP works.
• Review and approve temporary works designs.
• Review reinforcement drawings and schedules for compliance and constructability.
• Review and sign off on concrete mix designs.
• Manage material ordering and procurement to keep the program on track.
• Update and maintain construction programs.
• Maintain daily cost control and tracking, flagging variances early.
• Work hand-in-hand with the Site Supervisor to solve problems in real time.
• Report progress, risks and commercial issues up to the Project Manager.
• Operate autonomously and be the trusted technical decision-maker on site.

Job description

We're looking for an experienced Project Engineer ready to take the next step up into a Senior Project Engineer role. This position carries real ownership - you'll be the technical backbone of the project, working closely with the Site Supervisor day-to-day and reporting into the Project Manager, but expected to operate independently without needing hand-holding from senior management. The role has a strong focus on concrete infrastructure delivery, with particular emphasis on FRP scope - from technical review through to on-site execution.

Key responsibilities

• Take full ownership of the engineering delivery of concrete infrastructure projects, with a strong focus on FRP works
• Review and approve temporary works designs
• Review reinforcement drawings and schedules for compliance and constructability
• Review and sign off on concrete mix designs
• Manage material ordering and procurement to keep the program on track
• Update and maintain construction programs
• Maintain daily cost control and tracking, flagging variances early
• Work hand-in-hand with the Site Supervisor to solve problems in real time

About you

• Minimum 5 years' experience on Australian construction projects
• Proven experience working with tier-1 and/or tier-2 builders
• Strong track record project managing concrete infrastructure works
• Solid understanding of FRP applications in civil/concrete construction (essential)
• Confident reviewing temporary works, reinforcement and concrete mix designs
• Comfortable managing cost control, procurement and programming without close supervision
• A self-starter who can stand alone on site - you won't need to lean on senior management to get things done
• Strong communicator who works well with site supervisors, subcontractors and project managers
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering (or equivalent industry experience)
