Job summary

Downer Group is seeking a Project Engineer to join the Energy and Utilities Water team in South East Queensland. Based at Mango Hill, you will support delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, collaborating with Project Managers, Supervisors, subcontractors and clients across the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years post-graduate project engineering experience in water or wastewater in South East Queensland.
• Experience managing subcontractors.
• Experience developing scopes of work and subcontract agreements.
• Budgeting and forecasting experience.
• Experience developing and managing project schedules.
• Strong communication and safety commitment.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical advice to project delivery and wider program teams.
• Support project planning, design reviews and constructability assessments.
• Monitor project performance, schedules, budgets, costs and forecasts.
• Support development of project budgets and financial reporting.
• Manage subcontractors, suppliers, procurement packages and scopes of work.
• Review subcontractor progress claims, variations and extensions of time.
• Develop head contract variations and extensions of time.
• Identify project risks and hazardous site activities and ensure controls are implemented.
• Support design development to achieve practical, fit-for-purpose outcomes.
• Maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders and delivery partners.
• Drive quality outcomes and capture lessons learned across project delivery.
• Demonstrate safety leadership and support Zero Harm culture.

Join Downer's Energy and Utilities team as a Project Engineer and play a key role in delivering critical water and wastewater infrastructure projects across South East Queensland.

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our Energy & Utilities Water team based out of our Mango Hill office and support the successful delivery of construction projects.

Working closely with Project Managers, Supervisors, subcontractors and clients, you will provide technical and project delivery expertise across the project lifecycle. You will play an important role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with commercial, quality, environmental and client requirements.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Providing technical advice to project delivery and wider program teams

What we're looking for

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• 3 -5 years of post-graduate project engineering experience within the water or wastewater industry in South East Queensland
• Experience managing subcontractors
• Experience developing scopes of work and subcontract agreements
• Demonstrated financial management and reporting capability, including budgeting and forecasting
• Demonstrated experience developing and managing project schedules
• Experience driving quality outcomes across project delivery
• Strong communication, organisation and time management skills
• The ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to perform effectively in a changing environment
• A strong commitment to safety and Zero Harm
