Job summary

Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced cost management leader for Australia to manage cost initiatives, develop the client base, and standardise regional procedures aligned with Group standards.

You will lead a cost management team, ensure training, manage deliverables, and contribute to client growth, leveraging your extensive consultancy experience in the Australian construction market.

Qualifications

• Professional qualification in construction, cost management, engineering, surveying or architecture.
• Masters in Cost Management or equivalent knowledge and experience.
• 8–10 years’ experience as an Associate Director or Director.
• Strong background delivering consultancy services to relevant sectors.
• Experience leading cost management commissions for medium to large projects.
• Knowledge of procurement routes, value management and value engineering.
• People management experience within a cost management team.

Responsibilities

• Be the primary interface with Turner & Townsend cost management clients.
• Provide leadership to the cost management team and mentoring to staff.
• Ensure all staff have current and relevant training.
• Manage delivery of cost management outputs to agreed timelines and quality standards.
• Contribute to business development and winning new clients.
• Oversee tender documents, appraisals and negotiations.

Job Description

This role will manage cost management initiatives throughout Australia, develop the existing client base, market the business in the region to secure additional business opportunities, establish standardised documentation, systems and procedures for use in the region that align with the Group standards and client expectations, manage the delivery of quality technical services to clients and interact at a management level with both Turner & Townsend and the Turner & Townsend Group to identify areas of opportunity and growth.

• - Be the primary interface with Turner & Townsend cost management clients.
• - Provide leadership to the team leaders within cost management and provide leadership and mentoring to the cost management team.
• - Ensure all key staff members within the cost management teams have current and relevant training.
• - Manage the delivery of cost management team outputs in accordance with agreed time-scales and quality standards.
• - Experience of working in the Australian construction market.
• - Co-ordination and sign off on all management information produced by the cost management teams prior to issue.
• - To ‘win’ clients through strong business development skills.
• - Management of tender documents, appraisals and negotiations.
• - SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
• - Comply with the requirements of Turner & Townsend’s Business Management Systems including Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality Management associated with the role and position within the company.

Qualifications

• - Professionally qualified in one of the following fields: construction, cost management, engineering, surveying or architecture.
• - Masters in Cost Management or equivalent knowledge and experience.
• - At least 8 to 10 years’ experience as an Associate Director or Director.
• - A strong background in the delivery of consultancy services to the sectors serviced by Turner & Townsend.
• - Experience of leading cost management commissions for medium, large, sized construction projects of medium to high complexity. Confidential - External
• - Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters, such as different procurement routes, value management and value engineering.
• - People management experience, particularly in the context of managing a cost management team delivering a project.
