Job summary

RP Infrastructure (RPI) is seeking a seasoned Project Director/Associate Director to lead Brisbane aviation projects, driving delivery from planning to completion with client-focused leadership.

You will work with the National Aviation Leadership Team, mentor Senior Project Managers, and help grow the aviation business in Queensland through collaboration and expert governance.

Qualifications

• Track record leading complex major building or infrastructure projects.
• Experience with clients with complex structures and many stakeholders.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and design consultants.
• Experience mentoring project professionals and resourcing.
• Commercial judgement and ability to identify client needs and opportunities.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Project Director or Associate Director to join our Brisbane aviation team, leading major airport projects and programs alongside our aviation clients.

This role combines hands-on project leadership with the opportunity to help develop our people, strengthen client relationships and grow our aviation business in Qld. Working closely with our Director and Executive Director, you will contribute to the National Aviation Leadership Team and connect local project teams with expertise across RPI.

You will be comfortable taking ownership and operating autonomously, while knowing when to draw on specialist knowledge and bring the right people together to support delivery. In this role you will:

• Lead major aviation projects and programs from planning and design through to construction and completion, working closely with client teams.
• Establish clear delivery strategies, project plans and governance, overseeing budgets, programs, risks and reporting.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams, coordinating multiple design consultants, contractors and specialist advisers across complex interfaces and different commercial arrangements.
• Navigate complex client organisations, engaging large stakeholder groups and subject matter experts to align priorities, resolve issues and support timely decisions.
• Manage and mentor Senior Project Managers and Project Managers, supporting a collaborative team culture and contributing to resource planning.
• Build strong relationships through the National Aviation Leadership Team, drawing on and contributing to our national knowledge and expertise.
• Identify opportunities with existing clients and support sustainable business growth.

About You

You are an experienced senior project leader who combines sound delivery experience with commercial awareness. You take initiative, build confidence with clients and understand how strong project outcomes, team capability and client relationships contribute to a sustainable consulting business.

• A track record of leading complex major building or infrastructure projects, with accountability for delivery and client outcomes.
• Experience working with clients with complex organisational structures, multiple decision makers and large stakeholder and specialist groups.
• Experience leading multiple design consultants and multidisciplinary teams, with strong planning skills and the ability to manage technical, operational and commercial interfaces.
• Experience managing and developing project professionals, with a practical approach to mentoring, team culture and resourcing.
• Commercial judgement and the ability to recognise client needs, develop relationships and contribute to new opportunities.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications and strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

Aviation or airport terminal experience is highly valued but is not essential. We also welcome leaders from other complex building or infrastructure sectors who bring transferable experience. Experience delivering projects in live operational environments will be particularly valuable.
