Tilt Industrial Design is seeking a Senior Industrial Designer to join our interdisciplinary practice in Sydney. This leadership role leads an interdisciplinary team with accountability for commercial success, client relationships, and project delivery from concept to completion.

You will mentor the team, oversee project pipeline and reporting, and work from our Artarmon Studio, with right to work in Australia.

Qualifications

  • A Degree or higher in industrial design or engineering disciplines.
  • Minimum 15+ years demonstrated experience and ability to take large-scale design projects from concept to completion.
  • Commercial acumen, strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills (written/verbal) with an ability to present to senior stakeholders.
  • Leadership quality and ability to influence and mentor.
  • An ability to work autonomously on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • At the time of application, it is essential to have legal rights to work in Australia and reside in Sydney.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership: Contribute to supporting Tilt's growth and industry influence; Manage project pipeline, resources, and reporting; Mentor and develop expertise of team.
  • Project Delivery: Lead end-to-end delivery of large-scale projects; Manage client relationships; Review projects, risks, and inform decision-making across the division; Support existing client relationships and new business sales as required.
  • Finance: Develop strategies to maintain financial growth; Accountable for the financials of all projects - hourly rates, invoicing, pay claims, retention, variations; Review and approve client invoices; Oversee cash flow analysis and reporting.

Job description

We have an opportunity for a Senior Industrial Designer to join our interdisciplinary practice. This leadership role would suit someone with 15+ years of industrial design experience and will provide the opportunity to work on Tier 1 projects.

As a Project Director, this role will lead an interdisciplinary team with ultimate accountability for its commercial success, design excellence, ownership of client and stakeholder relationships and team management. You will oversee all project-related stages, from concept to completion, and have a keen eye for detail and quality control. This role is supported by a Project Administrator to assist with the general operational and commercial administrative workload.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership:

  • Contribute to supporting Tilt's growth and industry influence
  • Responsible for data integrity across all operational systems
  • Manage project pipeline, resources,and reporting
  • Mentor and develop expertise of team

Project Delivery:

  • Responsible for the end-to-end delivery of large-scale projects
  • Managing Client Relationships
  • Review projects, risks, and inform decision-making across the division
  • Support existing client relationships and new business sales as required

Finance:

  • Develop strategies to maintain financial growth
  • Accountable for the financials of all projects - hourly rates, invoicing, pay claims, retention, variations
  • Review and approve client invoices
  • Oversee division responsibility for cash flow analysis and reporting

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can motivate and influence others to drive better outcomes. With high energy and a hands-on approach, you will have a sharp attention to detail, ensuring nothing slips through the cracks. Strong interpersonal skills and a natural ease with client relationships are key for this role, as is the ability to work confidently both independently and within a team.
