Job summary

Dot Design, a design‑led retail activation company in Sydney, seeks an experienced Industrial Designer to move concepts into production across retail displays, POS solutions and proprietary products. You’ll own design development from concept to engineering, collaborating with manufacturing teams to ensure feasible, market‑ready outcomes.

You’ll bring 5+ years in Industrial Design, a strong portfolio, solid SolidWorks ability and rendering skills, with a passion for problem solving and executing

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in Industrial Design with POS or retail design preferred.
• Strong portfolio showing concept thinking and manufacturable outcomes.
• Excellent sketching and ideation capability.
• Must have SolidWorks experience and rendering skills (KeyShot/Blender).
• Strong presentation and communication skills.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and production methods.
• Experience designing for manufacture, production and assembly; injection moulding a plus.
• Production sourcing or offshore manufacturing experience is an advantage.

Purpose Of The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly capable Industrial Designer to join Dot Design’s Sydney team and work on projects that move quickly from concept through to engineering, manufacturing and retail execution. Working across retail displays, POS solutions and proprietary products, you’ll play a key role in bringing ideas to life that are not only visually strong, but commercially smart, practical and built for production. This role is suited to someone who enjoys solving real problems, thinking creatively and seeing their work manufactured and rolled out in market. • Develop concepts into 3D models, renderings and presentation‑ready visuals for internal review and client presentation.
• Design with manufacturing, assembly, functionality and cost efficiency in mind from the outset.
• Engineer practical and well‑resolved design solutions using SolidWorks.
• Prepare production‑ready designs, technical drawings and supporting documentation for manufacture.
• Work closely with local and offshore manufacturers to support design intent, feasibility and production outcomes.
• Manage multiple projects across different stages, from early concept through to manufacture and final delivery.
• Coordinate timelines, quotes, prototyping and production requirements to keep projects moving efficiently.
• Ensure all design solutions deliver creatively, commercially and practically for both client and end‑user outcomes.
• Collaborate with internal teams across design, engineering and production to bring ideas to life to a high standard.
• Take ownership of project outcomes, ensuring work is considered, buildable and aligned to client needs and brand expectations.
• Contribute proactive ideas, solutions and improvements throughout the design and development process.

Qualifications & Skills

• Rendering experience across KeyShot, Blender or similar programs
• Strong presentation and visual communication skills
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, materials and production methods
• Experience designing for manufacture, production and assembly
• Injection moulding experience highly regarded
