Job summary

Synergy (Electricity Generation and Retail Corporation) is seeking a Project Delivery Officer for a 12-month role at the Pinjar Power Station site. You will supervise construction contractors and ensure work aligns with contract requirements, maintaining safety focus throughout project execution and minimizing impact on live operations.

The role requires a trade background with extensive experience in construction and contractor management, strong OHS knowledge, and excellent communication

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in construction and management of contractors in heavy industry.
  • Strong knowledge of OHS and Environmental legislation, codes and standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication across levels of the organisation.
  • Experience with accident/incident investigations, risk assessments and hazard control.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills and ability to build relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee construction services from start to completion on site.
  • Ensure safety culture and practices meet Synergy expectations with a safety focus.
  • Provide construction feedback to project managers to aid delivery targets.
  • Develop effective working relationships with Synergy staff and contractors.
  • Coordinate and manage project permitting requirements.
  • Understand scope and supervise contractors for safe task completion.

Role Description

The Project Delivery Officer is a 12-month exciting opportunity based at our Pinjar Power Station site.

The Project Delivery Officer will supervise and co-ordinate the activities of construction contractors and ensure work is carried out in accordance with the contract requirements.

You will be responsible for ensuring the Contractors safety management aligns with the requirements and expectations of Synergy and that a safety focus is maintained throughout project execution and for ensuring contractor activity is conducted collaboratively and with minimal impacts on the operation of the adjacent live power generation costs.

Job Responsibilities
  • Overall management of construction services from commencement on site by main plant contractors through to the completion of all construction and demolition activities
  • Ensure contractors safety culture, values and practices are aligned with the expectations of Synergy, and all work is executed with an unrelenting safety focus
  • Provide construction feedback to project managers to assist with project delivery targets
  • Develop effective working relationships with Synergy staff and contractors
  • Effectively co-ordinate and manage project Permitting requirements
  • Understand the scope of work and be able to provide input and supervision of contractors to ensure completion of all tasks safely
What You Will Bring
  • Trade background with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in construction and management of contractors in heavy industry
  • Strong knowledge of OHS and Environmental legislation, Codes of Practice and Standards as they apply to the construction industry
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written with a demonstrated ability to discuss a wide range of issues to people across all levels of the organisation
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in and contribute to accident/incident investigations, risk assessments and hazard and injury management processes
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally
  • Proficient skills in computers: MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint
