Job summary

First Quantum in Australia seeks a Projects Cost Controller to support the Cost Control Team by ensuring accurate costing for inventory and overheads and performing reconciliations between the general ledger and cost accounting system.

In this role you will assist lead cost controllers on multiple projects in South America, set up budgets and forecasts, maintain cost forecasts in Excel, allocate cost codes, review site cost reports, and provide timely cost data to managers to inform budgeting

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or Economics preferred.
• Minimum 2 years' mining environment experience in a similar cost-control role.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Support lead/senior cost controllers on multiple projects in South America.
• Review material requisitions to ensure alignment with budget/forecast and correct cost codes.
• Assist in setting up project budgets and forecasts by allocating cost codes and uploading into ERP.
• Maintain project cost forecasts in Excel across multiple projects ensuring accuracy and integrity of costs.
• Review monthly site cost reports and ensure costs are coded to the correct project with proper cost codes.
• Provide accurate and timely project cost data to project managers and senior cost controllers for strategic and operational decisions.
• Distribute site-wide costs using ERP journal entries across projects based on site manhours.
• Monitor forecasts and track actual costs vs approved budgets, flag cost overruns for escalation.
• Utilise PowerBI reports to assist in cost control and reporting like labour cost distributions.
• Provide monthly variance analysis explaining budget overruns and deviations from forecast cash flows.
