Job summary

Vital Ease is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a portfolio of commercial fits, liaise with builders and head contractors, and collaborate with estimating, leading hand carpenters and the operations team in Melbourne. You will drive programs, manage budgets, coordinate trades and ensure timely handovers.

The role requires 3+ years in commercial fitout/refurbishment, a trade background is valued, and experience with Simpro is advantageous. Australian work rights are assumed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' project management experience in commercial fitout, shopfitting, refurbishment or interiors.
• Experience with budgets, variations and monthly progress claims.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Trade-background in carpentry or related trades is valued.

Job description

You'll own a portfolio of commercial projects at the same time. You'll be the main contact for builders and head contractors, and you'll work closely with our Estimating & Tender Manager, our Leading Hand Carpenter and our operations team.

Key responsibilities

Handover from estimating, and reviewing contracts, scope, drawings and specifications

Building and managing project programs that line up with the builder's master program

Coordinating site labour, subcontractors, material procurement and deliveries

Managing budgets, cost tracking, variations and monthly progress claims

Attending builder site meetings and managing RFIs, submissions and shop drawings

Overseeing site safety and documentation (SWMS, inductions, QA/ITPs) to builder requirements

Ensuring quality, defects close-out and on-time handover

Using Simpro for job management, scheduling, purchasing and reporting

About you

3+ years' project management experience in commercial fitout, shopfitting, refurbishment or interiors

A subcontractor or trade-package background (carpentry, partitions/ceilings, doors & hardware) is highly regarded

Strong commercial skills: you know how to protect margin through variations, claims and cost control

Able to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications

Confident managing builders, site supervisors and trades

Trade background in carpentry or a construction management/building qualification preferred

Experience with Simpro or similar job management software (advantageous)
