About the role As Program Support Worker you'll supervise and manage 2-hour contact visits between a parent and child referred by the Family Court, occurring weekly or fortnightly. These visits often involve families with complex needs and high-risk backgrounds, including domestic and family violence (DFV), mental health challenges, and drug & alcohol issues. You'll observe, assess, and intervene when necessary to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the child, while maintaining a neutral and professional stance.
What you'll do
- Provide a warm and professional intake experience for new families, including child orientation
- Elicit, model and foster appropriate parenting behaviours and interactions between children (and young people) and their parents/carers
- Deliver parenting and child development education and support in a way that is strengths-based, culturally sensitive and tailored to the individual needs of the families we support
- Support the wider casual pool on Saturdays and build your leadership skills, with opportunities to grow into a senior role over time

- 12-month maximum-term contract to provide parental leave cover
- Part-Time role working 4 days a week (including every second Saturday)
- Based at Penrith Office

What you'll bring
- Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline
- Demonstrated experience supervising high-risk family interactions, particularly in the context of DFV, mental health, and substance use
- Awareness of the impacts of separation, conflict, and domestic violence on children and families
- Strong administrative skills and high-level case note writing, ideally with trauma-informed practice
