Profectus is seeking multiple experienced Program Managers to support the delivery of complex ICT programs for an Australian Government agency. The role requires strategic leadership across planning, execution and delivery with governance, vendor and stakeholder management at the forefront.

You will act as the escalation point for Project Managers, manage interdependencies across projects and ensure risks and issues are identified early.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years delivering ICT projects of varying size and complexity.
  • Proven experience managing multiple concurrent projects or programs.
  • Experience working in complex ICT environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication across technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • PRINCE2, PMBOK or equivalent industry certification.
  • MSP or equivalent program management certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and strategic oversight across a set of assigned projects, managing interdependencies in support of program outcomes, business benefits and objectives.
  • Deliver monthly status reporting in the form of a program dashboard covering financial, milestone and achievement updates, with clear visibility of key risks and issues.
  • Act as the escalation point for Project Managers and support them across governance and delivery forums including project boards, project management forums and architecture review boards.
  • Support project managers to determine, monitor and review program scope, cost, schedule and expected benefits.
  • Make sure program activities meet the agency's governance standards and practices, and support compliance and assurance activities.
  • Support agile and iterative delivery practices, taking part in playback and review sessions.
  • Prepare material to communicate program outcomes, benefits and status to senior stakeholders.
  • Work with project managers to confirm business requirements and identify opportunities to rationalise delivery across the program.
  • Facilitate scheduling of program resources and coordinate organisational change management activities.
  • Actively manage key stakeholder relationships inside and outside the agency, and lead or coach one or more delivery teams.

Job description

Profectus is seeking multiple experienced Program Managers to support the delivery of complex ICT programs within an agency of the Australian Government. The work involves strategic oversight and leadership across planning, execution and delivery, keeping programs aligned to organisational objectives while maintaining governance, vendor and stakeholder management. Program Managers act as the escalation point for Project Managers, manage interdependencies across projects, and make sure risks and issues are identified and dealt with early. This is a senior role operating under broad direction, with a high degree of independence and accountability for program outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Required Experience
  • Minimum 5 years delivering ICT projects of varying size and complexity, applying a range of delivery approaches
  • Proven experience managing multiple concurrent projects or managing programs of work
  • Experience working in complex ICT environments
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical audiences
  • Excellent written skills, with the ability to write clearly, concisely and persuasively
  • Experience leading teams and coaching staff
  • PRINCE2, PMBOK or equivalent industry certification
  • MSP or equivalent program management certification
Desirable Experience
  • Experience working in complex global ICT environments
  • Experience delivering secure government systems
  • Knowledge of legislative and compliance controls applying to government services, including the Archives Act 1983, Privacy Act 1988, Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2014, Data Availability and Transparency Act 2022, Commonwealth Procurement Rules, Protective Security Policy Framework, Information Security Manual and Essential Eight
  • Certification in related disciplines such as Agile, BABOK, ISTQB, Risk Management, Benefits Management or DMBOK
  • Experience in related streams such as business and systems analysis, organisational change management, software testing, or applications and infrastructure engineering
Security Clearance Requirements
  • Must be an Australian Citizen
  • Must have an active Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) security clearance
