Job summary

NEC Australia is seeking a Program Manager to oversee major IT infrastructure initiatives, coordinating diverse teams and workstreams to deliver measurable value for clients. Based in Perth, you will drive planning, execution and governance to ensure timely, on-budget outcomes.

You should be proficient with MS project management tools and methodologies (Prince2, Agile, PMBOK), and hold a tertiary qualification in IT, engineering or business (or equivalent including ITIL).

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and reporting to sponsors.
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional teams and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Takes full ownership of end-to-end project delivery and governance.
  • Prepares realistic project and quality plans with regular updates.
  • Manages risks, controls changes, and financials across projects.
  • Leads project teams and maintains clear stakeholder communications.
  • Develops contingency plans and mitigates issues to meet objectives.

As a Program Manager with NEC Australia, you'll oversee the successful delivery of major IT Infrastructure initiatives, helping our clients achieve their strategic goals through innovative technology solutions. Based in our Perth office, you'll coordinate diverse teams, manage complex workstreams, and drive outcomes that deliver lasting value for our customers. This is an exciting opportunity to influence large-scale projects and contribute to NEC's reputation for excellence in technology and service delivery.

Key responsibilities

Takes full ownership of the end-to-end management, coordination, definition, documentation, and successful delivery of projects.

Prepares and maintains realistic project and quality plans while providing regular, accurate updates to stakeholders.

Engages with stakeholders to ensure objectives and requirements are fully understood and met for the successful delivery of each project phase.

Maintains open communication with project staff to identify potential issues, recommend solutions, and deliver actionable reports.

Leads the project team effectively, addressing performance deviations to ensure alignment with agreed standards.

Encourages open communication among stakeholders, using feedback to enhance understanding and prepare for necessary changes in services, products, or systems.

Identifies potential risks, quantifies their likelihood and impact, and documents mitigation strategies.

Coordinates the creation of contingency plans and countermeasures to address identified risks.

Manages project budgets effectively, preparing financial status reports for Managers, Steering Committees, and Executive teams.

About you

Delivering end-to-end medium to large, infrastructure-based projects.

Building productive customer and service provider relationships.

Working effectively with industry partners and third-party ICT suppliers.

Managing relevant issues, risks, changes and financial responsibilities within the project.

Planning, scheduling and controlling, implementing and directing the resources, people, funding and facilities to achieve the client's objectives.

Proficient in MS project management tools and methodologies (e.g. Prince 2/Agile/PMBOK).

Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. IT, engineering, business) or equivalent experience including ITIL.

To be successful in this role, you will have exceptional written and verbal communication, negotiation, presentation skills. Whilst being able to build rapport quickly and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of a complex environment.
