Job summary

Queensland Corrective Services – Woodford QLD is seeking staff to co-facilitate offender programs and administer assessments for prisoners.

The role emphasizes delivering evidence-based offender intervention programs, identifying risks, and building partnerships with community service providers to support rehabilitation and successful reintegration.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering group-based behavioural change programs.
• Understanding of criminal justice, case management or related human services.
• Supervisory or leadership experience with the ability to motivate others.
• Ability to engage with community groups and implement development strategies.
• Experience working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Knowledge of behavioural change theories, models and research.
• Knowledge of risk assessment practices in correctional rehabilitation.
• Knowledge of legislation, policies and procedures relevant to corrections.

• Co-facilitate moderate & high intensity general, violence & sexual offending programs to prisoners
• Administer appropriate assessments to prisoners & prepare prisoners for offender intervention programs
• Ensure offender program activities are consistent with evidence-based practice & deliver offender intervention programs in accordance with operational plans
• Identify & respond appropriately to risks arising from offender assessment & management
• Develop productive relationships with service providers & the community generally to enhance the community’s regard for offender programs
• Participate in case management activities as required for prisoners assessed as requiring program participation
• Ensure the timely provision of program participation reports & advice to courts, parole boards & other agencies regarding prisoners progress in intervention

• Experience or ability to deliver of group-based behavioural change programs
• Experience in and understanding of the criminal justice, case management or similar human services field
• Experience in a practice supervision both as supervisee and preferably a supervisor with demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and encourage others to meet the challenges of demanding work roles
• Ability to engage with community groups and/or implement community development strategies
• Experience or ability to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
• Understanding and application of theories, models and research related to behavioural change techniques
• Knowledge and application of research and practices, risk assessment instruments, process their application specific to effective correctional rehabilitation
• Knowledge, interpretation and application of legislation, policies and procedures
• Experience in problem solving, networking, risk management and conflict management
